Lena Dunham will host Saturday Night Live (SNL) for the first time next month.
The Girls creator and star will make her debut on the New York-based comedy-sketch series, which has poked fun at her own hit show several times in the past, on March 8. The 27-year-old actress shared the news, reported by Variety magazine, on Twitter on yesterday writing, "Thank you for the 'SNL' love. Can't wait to debut my character 'girl who googled serial killers all night & has lots to say!'"
Lena previously praised a parody of Girls on the show in September, that featured then-host Tina Fey as an Albanian girl, Blerta, with a rubber hand and "Old Cow Disease," who joined the four young women trying to find their place in the world. She called the sketch "a true honor," and also tweeted, "Very excited about the current line-up of 'SNL' ladies. They are funny like whoa."

Talk about a surprise elimination!
Dancing with the Stars co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet announced late last night that she won't be returning as a co-host for the dancing competition's 18th season.
Despite having served as the reality show's co-host for eight seasons, Brooke broke the surprising news on her Twitter: "Weird day ... Shocking pre-season elimination #DWTS …ME. Tom Bergeron didn't even read my name... I won't be returning to the show this season."
A confirmation of the news was given by the show's executive producer Conrad Green, who wrote in a statement, "We can confirm that Brooke Burke-Charvet will not be joining us next season... She's been a wonderful part of the Dancing with the Stars family since her triumphant win in season seven and will unquestionably be missed by our entire team. We'd like to thank Brooke for her years of great service."

A hardcore Parks and Recreation fan (or an insanely opportunistic eBay seller) seems to have disappointed fans of the show - as well as some of the stars themselves!
In the 100th episode of the NBC comedy, Amy Poehler's Leslie and her husband Ben (Adam Scott) travel to Paris and adorably left their own "Leslie and Ben <3" lock among the many others at the Pont des Arts. One fan happened to visit the site to see the lock and was appalled to find that someone had cut the fence and stolen the lock!
Jay Leno has filmed his last ever episode of The Tonight Show.
The TV host wrapped filming on the chat show last night after over 20 years at its helm last night and fought back tears as he thanked viewers for their loyalty. "Boy this is the hard part... The first year of this show I lost my mom; the second year I lost my dad. Then my brother died and after that I was pretty much out of family. The folks here became my family. When people say to me, 'Hey, why don't you go to ABC, why don't you go to Fox?' - [but] I didn't know anybody over there. These are the only people I know," he said towards the end of the show.
The 63-year-old funny man was joined by a galaxy of stars for his last ever broadcast at the Burbank Studios in California, including Kim Kardashian and Billy Crystal, who led everyone in a comedic rendition of The Sound of Music's So Long, Farewell along with Jack Black, The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons and chat show legend Oprah Winfrey, who warbled the line "you really raised the bar if you were me you'd buy them all a car." Sheryl Crow came out at the end to finish the song.
Idris Elba wants to appear on Girls.
The Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom - actor has made an appeal to the show's creator and star Lena Dunham - who he was a guest alongside on UK talk show The Graham Norton Show earlier this month - to write him a part on the popular program.
"@lenadunham Very funny woman. Can I come do a scene on your show? [sic]," he wrote on Twitter. Joking about a topless photograph of himself which he accidentally posted on the site recently, he added, "i promise, NO selfies... [sic]."
Although Lena is yet to agree to give the British actor a part on her show, she tweeted back, "@idriselba You are a pure pleasure, an honor to share the couch with you #selfiesforever PS thank you for calling me a woman, it made me feel all tingly inside <3 [sic]."
Prince is set to make a cameo appearance on New Girl.
The "Purple Rain" hitmaker will be making his TV debut on the upcoming Super Bowl episode of the hit FOX sitcom, which stars Zooey Deschanel as loveable Jess Day.
The singer is set to cause drama between fan favouite pairing Nick [Jake Johnson] and Jess [Zooey Deschanel], according to DrFunkenberry.com. "Prince actually reached out to the show. He is a big fan and wanted to do it. We were blown away and agreed immediately," a source told the website.
The episode is said to be centred around Prince's infamous star-studded house parties and could feature a live performance from the star.
Hannah Simon, who plays Jess' sexy sidekick CeCe on the show, also hinted last night there would be a "big deal" announcement about the series. "Big Deal Alert! Exciting news coming tomorrow..... [sic]," she wrote on Twitter.
Britney Spears has unveiled a sneak preview of I Am Britney Jean.
The "Work B***h" singer teased fans on Twitter before posting a link to a short 30 second clip today, in which her crew members reveal she has been under "pressure" in the lead up to her residency in Las Vegas which launches later this month. The 32-year-old singer is seen performing a series of complicated dance routines before a crew member explains, "There is a lot more people watching which creates a lot more pressure for her. I'm actually worried about whether the show is going to be ready."
Heather Morris and a host of former Glee stars will reunite for the show's 100th episode.
Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy announced on his Twitter account this week that all of the original cast members are being invited back for the celebratory episode. He has now confirmed that Heather - who played cheerleader Brittany S. Pierce in the show - will return, along with Harry Shum Jr. (Mike), Mark Salling (Puck), Dancing with the Stars winner Amber Riley (Mercedes) and Kristin Chenoweth (April), who won an Emmy for her guest turn.
Heather hasn't appeared in the program since the fourth-season finale when Brittany was written out of the series, after announcing she was bound for early admission to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Since her exit, actress Heather and her boyfriend Taylor Hubbella welcomed their first child in the world, Elijah, who was born in September.
Whether Dianna Agron, who played Quinn, will return for the special episode remains unclear. The actress has not appeared since the 14th episode of Glee's fourth season and was not a part of season five's tribute to late star Cory Monteith.
Roseanne Barr is not happy with the executives over at NBC - where she was developing her comeback television series - and she evidently wants the internet to know the extent of her anger.
The comedienne took to social networking site Twitter to unleash her disapproval with the NBC suits, pointing out that she gets treated differently than younger women in the industry, despite her career: "women who have achieved far less than me are allowed to write their own shows, bit I’m constantly forced 2 work w a censoring ‘show runner.’"
