Tyra Banks Address Skinny Top Model Controversy

We’ve heard it time and time again—Tyra Banks telling weight critics to kiss her fat ass. So why is she praising the girl above for being so thin? Well, she isn’t.

According to the creator, the supposedly unapproved promo was taken out of context leaving viewers with the wrong impression. The 6’2” girl featured is actually a supermodel wannabe with “internal struggles with her body.” Because of that, Banks tries to offer “support and encouragement” throughout the season.

“To the people who see me as a representation of upholding the fact that beauty comes in all sizes, I personally apologize. The jokes of my fellow judges connected with my edited sound bite sounded like I was supporting unhealthy eating habits. This has never and will NEVER be the case – I am and will always be committed to promoting healthy body image,” she wrote on her website.

Of course, Tyra has a lot more to say about the subject (would you expect anything less from her?)—so you can read her very wordy statement in full after the jump.

America’s Next Top Model Welcomes New Judge

André Leon Talley

Will the 14th season be the charm for ?

After cycling through a series of female faces for her judges panel, the host has decided to try something new: she’s chosen a male. André Leon Talley, best known as the Vogue magazine’s editor-at-large, will now take over where Kimora Lee Simmons, Janice Dickinson, Twiggy and Paulina Porizkova left off.

Will a new direction result in less catty comments about Miss Banks? Oh - I hope not.

An air date for ANTM‘s next premiere has not been announced yet.

Paulina Porizkova’s Unflattering Remarks About Tyra Banks

Tyra BanksUPDATE: The show’s executive producer claims Paulina was simply let go due to the economy.

Those who regularly follow know one thing: Paulina Porizkova is not afraid to speak her mind. Unfortunately for Tyra Banks, the recently fired judge is just as candid off-camera.

During an earlier chat with Craig Ferguson, Paulina implied that her former boss wasn’t the nicest person in the world. Now, in a new interview with Access Hollywood, Porizkova is dishing on the specifics.

Although she claimed to be unaware of her “ego problem,” the former supermodel does fess up to having a problem with one thing: tardiness. “I must admit I was having a little bit of an issue with Tyra being late for every judging. It’s six hours later and I feel like I am being told my time is not as valuable as hers. They pointed out that I should shut up and be grateful for the job and that Tyra is really busy,” Paulina stated. “I think that my little hissy fits about ‘Well, we are all here on time. Why can’t she (Tyra)?’ didn’t go over all that well.”

On this week’s episode of , the four remaining ladies - Analeigh, McKey, Marjorie and Samantha - got to to take things to a whole new physical level. For this week’s lesson, the women got a little more one-on-one time with . It was the former supermodel’s job to show the ladies how to sell products without using their voices.
