In that old CBS series, Franklin played divorcee Ann Romano, who raised her two daughters (Bertinelli and MacKenzie Phillips) in an apartment in Indianapolis. One Day at a Time ran from 1975 to 1984.
Franklin and Bertinelli aren’t the only former costars who will reunite during Cleveland’s second season. The show also has a guest spot planned for TV legend Mary Tyler Moore, who worked with Betty White on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
Season 2 of TV Land’s Hot in Cleveland -- which also stars Wendie Malick and Jane Leeves -- will debut in January.

Review: Hot in Cleveland a Little Lukewarm
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, Cable, Gossip, Video,
TV Land’s highly-promoted comedy, Hot in Cleveland, premiered Wednesday night. The series has Betty White‘s huge popularity, three more very respectable female comedy stars, and a gigantic marketing budget behind it. But did it deliver true TV heat?
The opening scene of the pilot introduced viewers to three great-looking, stylish women: Wendie Malick’s Victoria Chase, a former daytime TV star; Jane Leeves as Joy Scroggs, the “eyebrow queen of Beverly Hills” and Valerie Bertinelli’s Melanie Moretti, book author.
The sequence began with a series of predictable, female-oriented jokes - age and looks, mainly - but Wendie Malick’s delivery made the scene more believable. The setup: three best friends going to Paris together for a couple of weeks of fun. They traded quips until Melanie (Bertinelli) had an unfortunate run-in on the airplane with her ex-husband, on his way to Paris with his new fiancée. More melodrama ensued when the plane ride became increasingly turbulent. As they began careening toward certain death, Victoria vowed to stop being vain, Melanie to stop being afraid and Joy to stop complaining. The plane landed safely in Cleveland, and that’s when the show really began.

MONDAY (6/14)
- Little People (TLC, 8pm): “A county inspector pays a surprise visit to Roloff Farms and threatens to shut it down before the start of pumpkin season.” A reopening appears as likely as the Great Pumpkin’s arrival.
- Cake Boss (TLC, 9:30pm): “A cake shaped like a pink hearse is created.” It’s like they say, you’ll end up in what you eat.
- The Real Housewives of New Jersey (Bravo, 10pm): “It’s in the cards that Jacqueline will host a poker night, where Danielle’s ex-flame spills more scandalous gossip.” Thank goodness for staged sex tapes, otherwise these ladies would have nothing to talk about.

Valerie Bertinelli on Rachael Ray’s Show
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Daytime, Talk Shows,
I guess Rachael Ray needs some celebrity support on her show—why else is she bringing on actress Valerie Bertinelli? Bertinelli will soon join the chatty talk show host/kitchen diva/magazine queen/cookbook author/insert other ridiculously popular Rachael Ray item here. The former One Day at a Time star is being called a “celebrity content buddy,” which sounds like a really lame title for her. She’ll bring her single mother/working mom sensibility to the show, but it seems a bit unnecessary, really. Ray already has this talk show thing all sewn up with her extreme likeability and charm. What’s Bertinelli going to add to the mix? Don’t get me wrong—I grew up on One Day at a Time, so I’m not hatin’ on Bertinelli at all! I just don’t get it. Bertinelli has recently made a comeback of sorts as the spokeswoman for Jenny Craig. Her first segment on Rach’s show airs tomorrow, October 23rd, and according to Terry Wood, president of creative affairs and development at CBS Television Distribution, the two gals “get along like sisters.” Be on the lookout for twice the bubbly enthusiasm when Bertinelli joins the fold.
