Wednesday Ratings: Criminal Minds Leads the Pack

Despite a nice showing for NBC’s Muppets special, audiences had their sights set on criminals last night. CBS was #1 with the viewers and the demos once again.

8pm

• The New Adventures of Old Christine (7.5 million, 2.0/6 in 18-49) was down 800,000; Gary Unmarried (7.6 million, 2.3/7) only lost 400,000.
• Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa (7.4 million, 2.4/7) had the hour’s best demos.
• Secret Millionaire (6.7 million, 2.2/7) gave up a 1/2 million.
• The possible last episode of Pushing Daisies (4.8 million, 1.6/5) pushed away 200,000.
• CW’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show* (0.9/3) had 2.4 million glued to their television.

Wednesday Ratings: Angels and Reindeers Score for CBS

CBS surprisingly did well yesterday without its usual Wednesday lineup. The network’s night of variety - Rudolph, Grammys, Heidi - ended up taking the night’s demos. Meanwhile, crime-free competition helped NBC pick up a rare win with the viewers.

8pm

• Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (4.2/12 in 18-49) drew in 11.7 million.
• Christmas in Rockefeller Center (2.2/6) had 10.4 million feeling festive.
• Approximately 6.7 million watched the debut of Secret Millionaire (2.3/7).
• Pushing Daisies (4.9 million, 1.5/4) was up 10%.
• Stylista* (0.5/1) registered 1.3 million.

• Shrek the Halls (ABC, 8pm): Hopefully this Mike Myers laugher will help us all forget The Love Guru.
• Inside the Actor’s Studio (Bravo, 8pm):  “Daniel Radcliffe, star of the Harry Potter film franchise, charts his career journey.” I’m not sure I want to see James Lipton enthusiastically talking about Radcliffe’s nude Broadway performance.
• Heroes (NBC, 9pm):  “Ando, Sam and Frack try to restore Hiro’s memory with a comic book.” Any person trying to follow this series should be given an instruction manual.
• Boston Legal (ABC, 10pm):  “When Denny receives bad news about the state of his Alzheimer’s, Alan goes before the Massachusetts Supreme Court to plead for access to an experimental drug that can help his condition.” Alzheimers? Maybe Shatner simply forgot why George Takei dislikes him so.

Tuesday Ratings: NBC is The Biggest Winner

Despite two original episodes of Cane, NBC’s reality programming helped the network win both the demos and the viewers.

8pm

• A repeat of NCIS* (11.8 million, 2.5/7 in 18-49 demo) was the hour’s best performer.
• Deal or No Deal (3.1/9) came a close second with 11.3 million.
• Shrek the Halls* (3.4/10) rounded up another 10 million for ABC
• Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too! (3.1/9) sweetened the pot with 8.5 million.
• Bones* (6.2 million, 2.0/6) was down 2 million from last week.

9pm

• The Biggest Loser (3.6/9 in 18-49) weighed in with 9.8 million viewers.
• House* (3.5/9) treated 9.7 million.
• The first hour of Cane (1.9/5) came in third place.
• The According to Jim* block (1.9/5) averaged 5.7 million.
• CW showed a repeat of CBS’ Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show* (2.94 million, 1.3/3).  The hand-me-down drew 5.5 million less.

10pm

• Boston Legal (2.5/7 in 18-49) topped the hour with 9 million.
• The second hour of Cane (7.8 million, 2.0/6) was about steady with its first half.
• Law and Order: SVU* (2.4/6) lost 5 million from last Tuesday.
