In the past year, we’ve seen the fan hysteria behind Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight and the cancellation of the loved-but-not-watched series Moonlight. Now, we’ll get to see if another vampire-related project will be as successful as the former or as neglected as the latter.
Later this week, HBO will introduce the latest entry in the blood-sucking genre. In True Blood, the newest creation from writer/producer/director Alan Ball (Six Feet Under), vampires are able to co-exist with humans. A synthetic supply of the red stuff allows them to feed without necessarily needing to hunt.
After the jump, you can see the moment when Sookie Stackhouse (Oscar-winner Anna Paquin) meets 173-year-old Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) for the very first time.

With the premiere of Gossip Girl only days away, it’s now time to get everyone up to speed.
If you’re not currently a fan - or if you’re a bit hazy on last season’s details - you can find a very quick recap after the jump. If you already know the difference between a Waldorf, a Humphrey and a Bass, you can just focus on the first five minutes of Season Two below.
(NOTE: We’re already getting our first glimpse of Nate’s new cougar!)
We all remember Sanjaya Malakar as a popular American Idol contestant (season six) with somewhat dubious vocals. Now, the former reality star will add a new line to his resume: TV spokesman.
Malakar is now part of the Nationwide Insurance “Life Comes at You Fast” campaign. The commercial pairs Malakar with a wise-man character who tells him he needs a haircut. With this new gig, Malakar will join Kevin Federline, Fabio and MC Hammer - all of whom have pushed the product in the past.
You can check out Sanjaya’s comedic work for yourself after the jump.

A few weeks ago, we saw a few tantalizing clips of what Gossip Girl‘s second season has in store for us. Now we’re actually getting a glimpse of the miserable state Chuck Bass will be in this fall. (Could he actually be feeling guilt for what he did to Blair?)
My favorite part of this scene? Bass’ snooty response to the word ‘Jitney.’
Gossip Girl kicks off Monday, September 1 on the CW.

Failed performances or not, we should have known that Britney Spears’ relationship with the VMAs would never be completely over.
While it’s still unclear whether the singer will be hitting the MTV stage again anytime soon, Spears has offered her improved self to several of the event’s promos.
Still not sure who Russell Brand is? Well, you probably aren’t the only one. In the following clip, the comedian tries to teach the pop star his name.
Will Britney win either of the two categories (Best Female Video, Best Pop Video) she’s nominated for? Find out when the 2008 Video Music Awards air on September 7.

Even if you are not a fan of So You Think You Can Dance, there is no way you can deny how amazing Robert Muraine and Philip Chbeeb are.
Last night, these two performers - who were first introduced earlier in the season - returned for the first televised popping battle:
Earlier this week on Live with Regis and Kelly, guest host Anderson Cooper offered his unedited opinions about the “train wreck” also known as Living Lohan. (You can view that hilarious segment here.)
In addition to calling the Lohan clan “horrific people,” he said that Ali Lohan was “allegedly a 14-year-old girl” who “looks to be about 60.” (For the record, I completely agree with that remark.)
And as Cooper had predicted, it didn’t take long before Dina Lohan offered her response to the journalist’s comments. (After all, that’s how she makes her money. She picks up the phone and makes sure statements are retracted.) Later that day, the mama bear told OK! that the “cruel” anchor would get it in the end. “This is bad karma for him.”

UPDATE: You can find an update to this story here
On today’s episode of Live with Regis and Kelly, guest host Anderson Cooper diverted from his usual discussions about hard news to talk about….reality television.
In addition to making fun of Project Runway‘s leather queen (Stella), the CNN anchor used his journalistic skills to brilliantly shred Living Lohan.
C’mon Gelman. Can’t you see how much better your show would be without Regis?
Entourage fans, the long wait is almost over. Although we’ve grown accustomed to seeing our Boys of Summer sometime in June, last year’s writers strike forced us to endure more reality fare than anyone should be subjected to.
Those of you - like me - who’ve been waiting to renew your HBO subscription, here’s a teaser you’ve missing.

Earlier this month, we showed you Gossip Girl‘s second set of racy ads. Now we’re finally getting a sneak peek at what Season 2 has in store for us.
And just in case the clip confuses you (like it did me), Entertainment Weekly says the part with Nate and Serena is NOT a fantasy sequence. Interesting…
Gossip Girl returns to CW on Monday, September 1.
