Tyra Banks Address Skinny Top Model Controversy

We’ve heard it time and time again—Tyra Banks telling weight critics to kiss her fat ass. So why is she praising the girl above for being so thin? Well, she isn’t.
According to the America’s Next Top Model creator, the supposedly unapproved promo was taken out of context leaving viewers with the wrong impression. The 6’2” girl featured is actually a supermodel wannabe with “internal struggles with her body.” Because of that, Banks tries to offer “support and encouragement” throughout the season.
“To the people who see me as a representation of upholding the fact that beauty comes in all sizes, I personally apologize. The jokes of my fellow judges connected with my edited sound bite sounded like I was supporting unhealthy eating habits. This has never and will NEVER be the case – I am and will always be committed to promoting healthy body image,” she wrote on her website.

For some reason, everyone is talking about the same thing today: the 90210 girls and how skinny they are. I admit, the first time I saw Shenae Grimes (she’s Annie), I felt sorry for the teens out there. When I was a very little girl watching Beverly Hills, 90210, it was hard enough looking at Kelly Taylor’s perfect smile and Donna Martin’s lovely figure and wondering how I could ever compete - but they, at least, looked as though they actually did eat the food at the Peach Pit, from time to time. The new crop of West Beverly High Schoolers look more like refugees in designer labels who just came from the salon, where some kind person gave them makeovers…but sadly, no snacks.

Often the source of tabloid fodder, Nicole Richie has remained on magazines because the world seems obsessed with her weight. Pictures of an emaciated-looking Nicole have appeared in every major supermarket, along with bold headlines that pondered the possibility of an eating disorder. No matter what happens in her personal life (like using her winning ways to tempt Joel Madden away from former famous tween queen Hilary Duff), the headlines always go back to one thing: Richie’s waistline. Now, a slight bulge on her midsection has everyone talking again. Could it be that Nicole Richie, famous socialite and reality TV star, is pregnant?
