Jessica Simpson Twitter

“who writes this crap?” Jessica Simpson recently demanded of her Twitter-reading audience, after noting that “CW catching up on MP.” That stands for Melrose Place, the show which recently fired Jess’ little sister Ashlee (and after they pimped her out as their main promo, too).

“i have had bad scripts to work with, but this?thank God my sister is amazing and got you some press.” Simpson continued to fire away.

It’s true that Ashlee Simpson-Wentz made quite a few appearances to promote the Place, but the show was getting press well before she ever signed on. You know who gets even more press than either Simpson sister? Heather Locklear - and the says she’s really the one behind Ashlee’s abrupt departure from the cast. This, however, doesn’t explain why Colin Egglesfield was also dissed, so take it with a grain of salt.

Gossip holds that Locklear went totally diva on set and wanted to be the biggest thing on the show. When the dust cleared, it was decided that Ashlee just had to go. Other rumors - much more believable, as it were - suggest that Simpson was because she’s a terrible actress. Watch a Melrose clip and form your own opinion:
