Clouds of controversy surrounded Jason Castro’s last week on American Idol. From Paula’s flub to Castro’s comments to Entertainment Weekly, the dreadlocked dude gave plenty of Idol watchers plenty to talk about. Recently, Castro sat down again with EW to set the record straight.
Before his Idol elimination, Jason Castro commented to an EW reporter that he was feeling ready to go home. This led, naturally, to angry comments and emails from readers who lambasted the writer of the piece. While Castro did make the comment, his words weren’t as serious as some might have believed. “That day I was in a bad mood,” Jason explained. “I was frustrated with a lot of things.”

Will Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough Get Their Own Show?

Rumors
Although their romance was only confirmed less than a month ago, there’s already talk about a future reality project for Dancing with the Stars‘ Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough. Apparently someone thinks their relationship actually has a future!
According to Extra, another former DWTS competitor is interested in following the two lovebirds as they pursue their other interests. The production company belonging to Melanie Brown and her husband may soon have cameras focused on Shannon as she tries to land acting gigs and on Derek as he works on his music career. (He and Mark Ballas have their own band called Almost Amy.) The show would, of course, also feature the couple’s blossoming romance.
Seriously. Shouldn’t the Spice Girl wait to see where this whole thing goes before she makes any business decisions like that? Quite honestly, I though Sabrina Bryan and Ballas had a better chance of staying together...and they just broke up.

Three Still Standing on American Idol

The Top 4 results night on American Idol began with the usual self-congratulatory feelings as host Ryan Seacrest announced the Tuesday vote totals were the highest for the season, with nearly 51 million cast. The Top 3 competitors of the evening were separated, he added, by a paltry million votes.
Ryan Seacrest took a moment to talk with the judges about Syesha Mercado, who in weeks past has barely slipped past the long arm of elimination. “I was just judging her the way I saw the vocals,” Randy Jackson defended his less-than-complimentary Tuesday praise. “She did an amazing job last night,” Paula Abdul went to bat for Mercado. The host then asked Simon Cowell if the latter was angry Tuesday night. Of course he wasn’t - “just surprised,” Cowell explained, at the rather “disastrous song choices.”
As the time for banter ended, an almost-final glimpse of the Final Four Idols was presented as the quartet crooned “Reelin’ In the Years.” I thought the choice was totally odd, but I must admit that the number was pretty good all the same. The American Idol tour of the Top 10 contestants, by the way, begins July 1. Tickets go on sale May 17.
Banter and performances aside, there’s only one reason to watch Idol on Wednesdays: to find out, first hand, which one of the contestants is going home.

Eddie Cibrian: ABC’s Hottest Co-Star of the Year

Either the Alphabet network is completely out of fresh ideas or they simply know a hot stud when they see one. (Believe me, I’m not complaining.)
Since last fall, actor Eddie Cibrian (Third Watch) has been cast as the sexy boyfriend and/or ex in three different ABC shows. He played one of Karen Darling’s ex-hubbys on Dirty Sexy Money and he was fixed up with Christina Applegate on Samantha Who?. Now the actor is going to sex things up one more time.

Starting tonight, Cibrian can be seen on Ugly Betty as Justin’s gym teacher and as a new love interest for his student’s mother. Wow. And I thought Santos was hot. Hilda should definitely come out of her mourning now.

Fame and the Top Four Mix on American Idol

Performance night for the top four on American Idol began with host Ryan Seacrest announcing the “competition is closer than ever before.” The same could be said of every episode every week, sure, but it was a good enough intro for the evening.
The theme: songs from the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. This gave contestants a wide umbrella to show off their personalities, their style and their potential to take the coveted crown: the title of American Idol. These days, the prize is little more than the title itself. The remaining contestants all stand a great chance of getting recording contracts no matter what. But, the show must go on.
“Song selection is everything,” Ryan Seacrest reminded. With such a wide range to choose from, his words were only too true.

As we mentioned last week, film star Lindsay Lohan is scheduled to make several appearances on the small screen.
At the end of this month, Lohan will show up on Ugly Betty as a former evil classmate of Betty’s. In addition to the season finale, Lindsay will also turn up in five episodes next fall. Here are our first glimpses of Samantha Ronson’s gal pal in action.

By the way, May 22 will also be the day when we see British Airways’ biggest nightmare: Naomi Campbell.
