Paris Hilton Behind Bars? Not Likely

Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, The Simple Life After being sentenced to 45 days in county jail by Los Angeles courts, Paris Hilton (party girl, heiress, reality star, model) did what anyone in her position would do – she started to fire people who work for her. After arriving in the courtroom ten minutes late, Hilton tried to give the judge an excuse that didn’t go over too well – “it wasn’t my fault – it was my publicist’s!” Poor Paris – all these people that work for her, and none of them bothered to explain that you can’t drive on a suspended license. Reminder: Hilton is 26 years old.

After the ruling was handed down (one that shocked Hilton family members and other spectators inside the L.A. courtroom), Paris Hilton held a press conference outside her home, fired her publicist, and had her attorneys file an appeal. Though Elliot Mintz has been doing the PR for Paris for years, all bets are off when an heiress faces jail time – and when lame excuses don’t pan out as expected.

Now on the attack, lawyers for Hilton have filed an appeal in hopes of alleviating the sentence. The heiress has been ordered to appear at the county jail on June 5 to begin her sentence, just days after the season premiere of her reality show The Simple Life. During her meeting with photographers on Saturday, Paris Hilton said she felt she’d been treated “unfairly” and the sentence is “both cruel and unwarranted.” But the truth is, there is very little chance the heiress will sit behind bars. Massive problems with jail overcrowding in California make it much more likely that Paris will be turned away when she arrives at the appointed date, and even now her team of lawyers is planning an attack plan designed to keep her free. They’ll try everything from work release to community service to keep Hilton in the limelight, and out of the harsh lights of county correctional.

To be honest, most people are hoping they succeed. Paris just doesn’t look good in orange.
