Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, ABC, Cable, FOX, HBO, NBC, Showtime, TNT-HD, 24, Desperate Housewives, Entourage, House, The Office, News,
Even though SAG members are currently debating whether to strike, today’s award nominations gave them all a brief distraction. If the upcoming Oscars telecast doesn’t go on as planned, next month’s Screen Actors Guild Awards (scheduled for January 25th on TNT and TBS) could be the last time actors have a reason to celebrate.
Here are some of the noteworthy mentions from this year’s list of television nominees:
- 30 Rock, Boston Legal, The Closer, John Adams and Mad Men all scored three noms each.
- Dexter is up for its first win in the Outstanding Drama Series Ensemble category.
- Desperate Housewives - a nominee for Best Ensemble - received no individual honors.
- Debra Messing (The Starter Wife), Kevin Connolly (Entourage), January Jones (Mad Men), Anna Paquin (True Blood) and Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) all received Golden Globe nominations, but no SAG noms.

ABC’s Cavemen may have seen decent ratings last week, but it appears the experiment’s novelty may have just worn out. Meanwhile, House scored another ratings victory for FOX (followed by NBC, ABC, CBS and CW)
8pm
- NCIS (16.1 million, 3.4/10 in 18-49) won both the hour in viewers and demos.
- Bones (8.3 million, 3.1/9) gained 430,000 viewers coming in second.
- ABC’s Cavemen (2.5/8 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall) lost about 20% of the premiere’s audience; Carpoolers (7.4 million, 2.8/8) was also down, but improved on its lead-in.
- NBC’s The Singing Bee (2.1/6 in 18-49) started off the hour with 6.7 million viewers; The Biggest Loser (6.6 million, 2.7/7 in 18-49) carried them from there.
- Beauty and the Geek (3.2 million, 1.5/4) brought an additional 500,000 viewers to the CW.
9pm
- House (17.7 million, 7.3 rating/18 share in adults 18-49) ruled the whole evening with the viewers and demos.
- ABC’s Dancing With the Stars (16 million, 4.0/10 share) pulled in second.
- The Unit (11.1 million, 3.0/7) saw a slight decline.
- Reaper (2.7 million, 1.3/3) scared away approx. 170,000 viewers.
