Did a Reality Con Artist Trick American Idol?

You watch enough reality TV shows, you’re going to start seeing some of the same faces. Not all of these repeated-realers choose to use different names and fake accents when they’re appearing before the cameras, however, and that’s why American Idol’s is extremely special…or very, very dumb.

Nix originally billed herself as a Florence, Italy native and spoke with an accent (not to mention that inordinately high-pitched speaking voice) before she sang prettily for the panel to win her shot at success in Hollywood Week. But if you’ve watched a lot of Fear Factor and Making the Band, you might know Nicci by another name - another name, another birthplace, another accent…whatever. Keep reading to watch videos of a distinctly different Nicci.

MONDAY 4/13)
  • Chuck (NBC, 8pm):  “When Chuck’s father is abducted by Fulcrum forces, Chuck attempts to rescue him by putting his faith in a most unlikely person—his double-crossing ex-girlfriend, Jill ().” Well, she is fast and furious.
  • Dhani Tackles the Globe (Travel, 9pm):  “Dhani visits Spain’s Basque region to learn about jai alai, a fast-paced ball game that’s been called “ballet with bullets.” That’s one performance of The Nutcracker I would probably sit out.
  • Roommates (ABC Family, 9pm):  “Hope’s father makes a surprise visit and tells her to come home because he’s unhappy with her job situation.” Doesn’t he, like, understand how hard it is out there? He’s so lame.
  • 24 (FOX, 9pm):  “Jack’s daughter returns.” Because the worst day in Daddy’s life just wouldn’t be the same without her.

  • 24 (FOX, 9pm):  “Jack and Renee walker pursue Dubaku through the streets of Washington, D.C., with a little cyber help from Chloe.” If Bauer switched to Verizon, he could have a whole network working for him.

Making the Band…without Danity Kane?

During last season’s finale of Making with the Band 4, Diddy surprised everyone following by making two shocking decisions. (Okay - we could have probably seen the first one coming.) Even before layoffs had become the norm, the girl group’s producer axed Aubrey O’Day and D. Woods after a very uncomfortable meeting. (You can relive that moment after the jump.)

Greek

MONDAY (8/25)
  • General Hospital (ABC, check local listings):  wakes up from her catatonic state. Hurry up and ask her all your questions before she goes back under.
  • High School Musical: Get in the Picture (ABC, 8pm):  “The six finalists attempt to learn TV theme songs from the 1970s and ‘80s.” Should we really allow these teens to butcher classic songs from before they were born?
  • Deal or No Deal (NBC, 8pm):  Season 4 premiere. Could this be the day that someone wins the million? Pleez. Do you think they’d give it up that quickly?
  • America’s Toughest Jobs (NBC, 9pm):  Series premiere. “Average Joes perform dangerous and physically demanding jobs in this competition series. The winner is awarded the annual salary of each job completed.” Aren’t Average Joes the ones already performing these jobs?

MONDAY (8/18)
  • I Want to Work for Diddy (VH1, 9pm):  “Two members from each team must go to Paris and convince a model that Diddy saw in a magazine to come back to NYC with them and pose for .” If you want to flatter a girl, don’t send one assistant - send four.
  • The Hills (MTV, 10pm): Season 4 premiere. I’m ashamed to say that I know what a ‘Lo’ is.
  • Paranormal State (A&E, 10pm):  “A family in Shrewsbury, Mass., claims to have been living with a spirit for 40 years, and all but one family member believe the spirit is malicious.” If they’ve managed to live with it for 40 years, how bad could this spirit possibly be?
  • Date My Ex: Jo & Slade (Bravo, 10pm):  “Juvenile tomfoolery back at he house irks Slade and may mean the expulsion of a suitor.” Had this been simply adult tomfoolery, things would have been fine.

Janet Jackson Seeks Her Replacement on MTV

Janet Jackson gets her own reality showReality TV producers over at MTV have apparently lured pop icon Janet Jackson into developing yet another American Idol-esque series.

“It’s really about finding who’s the next Janet Jackson or Justin Timberlake or Usher,” executive producer David Broome explains; however, I am a bit unsure as to why we would need to find the next Janet, Justin, or Usher when all three are still rather successful artists today. Perhaps a hint at Jackson’s fall from her pop star throne?

Either way you slice it, the upcoming MTV show sounds just like Making the Band to me.

Fearing blatant comparisons to its predecessors, Boome added, “We’ll find it from a pool of people who you wouldn’t typically find it from. We’ll go to YMCAs, church groups, local community centers and try to cast the show.”

Wow! A reality show with a heart? I doubt it.

WTF?: Danity Kane on Nashville Star

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories:

When the words ‘pop goes country’ are uttered, images of Kristy Lee Cook singing just about anything on run through my mind.

So imagine my confusion when I saw this clip of Danity Kane performing on . Couldn’t they have at least attempted to change up their song a bit? Wasn’t that the whole theme of last night’s competition? Were the girls only comfortable sticking to something they’ve practiced a thousand times over on Making the Band? But really - why was a group formed by Diddy on a show called Nashville Star to begin with?
