Samantha Who Displaces Ugly Betty

Samantha Who

There’s nothing like a single dad to get things all messed up.

After delaying Samantha Who‘s January return for several weeks (expanded versions of The Bachelor have been doing quite well), ABC has decided to scratch their original midseason plans and start anew. Instead of putting Christina Applegate on hold, they have chosen to give America Ferrera a short vacation.

Beginning March 26, Samantha will be used to kick off ABC’s Thursday night of programming. The show - which will face off against - would then lead into a new comedic entry: In the Motherhood. That freshman program, starring Cheryl Hines and Megan Mullaley, has been described as “a look at the importance of family and friends while trying to juggle motherhood, work and love lives in an overly complicated modern world.”

This shuffle will temporarily force to take an unexpected spring break. Although the network claims the program will return to its original time slot once the other two programs have finished their runs, that could mean June airings of the displaced show. (The good news? Betty episodes would then proceed without repeats.)

The Thursday night lineup won’t be the only thing disturbed in the weeks to come. To fit in DWTS’ results show return, will move (again!) from Tuesdays @ 9:00 to Wednesdays @ 8:00 (a.k.a. Pushing Daisies’ former time slot.) The former NBC series will then serve as a lead-in to another new series: Better Off Ted.

It’s not known at this time if something will come after @ 9:30 on Mondays, or if the program will stay in two-hour mode after its premiere.
