Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Award Shows, Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, Cable, CBS, FOX, HBO, NBC, PBS, Showtime, TNT-HD, 24, Entourage, House, The Office, News

Although the Hollywood Foreign Press Association was forced to cancel last year’s party, the Golden Globes will finally make its return next month. The 66th annual event is scheduled to air Sunday, January 11th, just over a week before the Academy Award nominations are announced.
Here are some of the noteworthy mentions from this year’s list of TV nominees:
- HBO, with its 22 nominations, once again led the pack.
- In Treatment and Recount, both from HBO, had five nominations each - the highest number for any program this year.
- House is the only non-cable program to be up for Best Drama.
- True Blood is the only new series to receive any nods.
- Kiefer Sutherland and 24 received nominations for the show’s 2-hour special.

(You can view TV Envy’s Television Programming Schedule here.)
MONDAY (11/24)
- Dancing with the Stars (ABC, 8pm): After ten weeks, it all ends tonight. Sadly, I can’t even remember the names of the first two eliminated.
- Samantha Who? (ABC, 9:30): “Sam invites boyfriend Owen (James Tupper) for dinner to meet her parents, but Owen and Howard don’t hit it off.” Seems Howard doesn’t approve of his relationship with Anne Heche either.
- Valkyrie: The Plot to Kill Hitler (History, 10pm): “Recalling Operation Valkyrie, a failed plot devised by German officers to assassinate Adolf Hitler.” By choosing this documentary over the Tom Cruise version, you’ll be able to save a few more bucks for Christmas.
- The Hills (MTV, 10pm): “Audrina confronts Lauren and Justin after rumors circulate that the two hooked up.” By “confront,” we mean Audrina has them refer to the television interviews she’s conducted on the topic.

Casting Corner: In Plain Sight, Kath & Kim, Medium and More
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Cable, CBS, NBC, Grey's Anatomy, Medium

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:
CSI: Miami: No matter what you think of Diddy, you can’t deny the mans’ diversity. Who else could front several reality shows, star in A Raisin in the Sun and take on David Caruso? According to Entertainment Tonight, the mogul is scheduled to air in two episodes of the CBS drama next year. He will play a federal prosecutor (yeah, I know) who has a personal and professional beef with Horatio’s team.

Casting Corner: Ugly Betty, Saturday Night Live, In Plain Sight
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Late Night, Prime Time, ABC, Cable, NBC, News

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:
According to Entertainment Weekly, the whistle may soon be blown on a Ugly Betty hunk.
Back in May, I declared Eddie Cibrian to be ABC’s Hottest Co-Star of the Year. Unfortunately, the hot gym teacher will apparently be taking his chest dimples over to another network. Cibrian, who was only scheduled to appear in four Betty episodes this season, has now lined up a short arc on USA’s The Starter Wife.
So what will Coach Tony Diaz’s eventual departure mean for Hilda? Well, if she’s half as devastated as I am—it’ll probably mean lots of nights spent with Ben & Jerry.

Chris Noth Leaves Law & Order: Criminal Intent
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Cable, NBC, News, Renewals
After leaving his mark on two different Law & Order franchises, Chris Noth has decided to leave the Dick Wolf family once again.
Noth, who has been playing Det. Mike Logan on Law & Order: Criminal Intent for three years, originated the character when the first series unfolded on NBC back in 1990. (He stuck around that time through 1995.)
When the USA Network program returns for its 8th season (it’s still in the middle of its seventh), Jurassic Park‘s Jeff Goldblum will be the new face sharing screen time with Vincent D’Onofrio.
In a statement, USA’s executive vice-president of original programming said, “Jeff is one of the most exciting actors around and is a perfect addition to the Law & Order: Criminal Intent ensemble. We are very excited to see what new moves he will bring to the Major Case Squad.” Well, I hope he brings a lot - especially since he’ll reportedly be getting about $250,000 per episode.
There’s been no word as to how or when Noth will be making his exit.

In Plain Sight a Hit for USA Network
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories:

Weeds. Damages. The Closer. Saving Grace. Army Wives. What do they all have in common? These shows with female leads can all be found on cable.
Now we can add another program to that growing list: In Plain Sight.
The USA Network drama, starring Mary McCormack (The West Wing), debuted this past weekend to impressive numbers. The series about a U.S. Marshal working for the Witness Protection Program pulled in 5.3 million viewers during its 10 p.m. time slot. That’s the best turnout any new program has seen on that channel since Psych premiered in 2006.

Angela Bassett Reports for ER Duty
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, NBC, ER, News
Over the past 14 seasons, the halls of ER have seen a multitude of guest stars. John Leguizamo, Stanley Tucci, Ray Liotta, Forest Whitaker and Hal Holbrook represent just a small sampling of those who have either been on a gurney or had a stethoscope around their neck.
For the show’s 15th - and final - year, NBC will be bringing on another Academy Award nominee to help triage the endless patients. Waiting to Exhale‘s Angela Bassett will help the veteran series finally come to a close. While this won’t be her first stint on television (she did have several appearances on my beloved Alias), this will be her first full-time gig on the small screen.
When ER returns next fall, we can also expect a visit from one of the drama’s former staples: Noah Wyle. The actor, who hasn’t done much aside from USA’s The Librarian movies, is scheduled to stop by for at least four episodes.

Are You Ready for a Presidential Rumble?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Cable, Gossip

All eyes are turning toward Pennsylvania, where a highly important primary war will soon be waged. Pundits expect the race to determine the outcome of the Democratic nomination…but the pundits have said that about many, many primaries during the current race to the White House. Before you Pennsylvanians cast your votes, let’s see how the Presidential hopefuls handle themselves in a wrestling ring.
The three contenders will appear tonight on the USA network for Monday Night Raw, each with taped messages for wrestling fans at large - and Pennsylvania voters in particular. “Tonight, in honor of the WWE, you can call me Hillrod,” Senator Hillary Clinton will say in her message. “This election is starting to feel a lot like ‘King of the Ring.’ The only difference? The last man standing may just be a woman.”
