Joe Jonas: Future American Idol Judge
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip
As hard as it might be to believe, the Jonas Brothers can be separated from each other. For the proof, watch American Idol‘s upcoming season.
Although he previously visited the program as a member of his trio, Joe Jonas will be making a return to the FOX series as a solo act. The boy bander is now the latest musician to serve as a guest judge on Idol.
Jonas’ stint in Dallas will follow the appearances of both Victoria Beckham and Mary J. Blige. Other celebrities on tap include Katy Perry and country singer Shania Twain. Although a Kelly Clarkson cameo had been rumored, a source tells Us Weekly that the Season 1 winner will not be participating.
Season 9 of American Idol premieres in January.

Jonas Premieres Tomorrow Night: Do You Care?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Kids, Music, Prime Time, Cable, Gossip
Disney’s Jonas, a sitcom starring the Jonas Brothers, is scheduled to premiere Saturday night. I know what you’re thinking: is it possible for Disney to squeeze in more televised coverage of this trio? Evidently, it is.
But I expect it to be a flop, and that’s not a commentary on their acting abilities. I’d like to present the evident which supports this theory: Disney-viewing kids are, first, already Jonas saturated. They’re also too busy keeping up with Hannah Montana re-runs to worry about that many new shows - and Disney’s summer schedule is always so chock-full of made-for-TV movies it’s hard to realize they actually have serialized programming still running. The Jonas Brothers have also already proved they don’t have Miley Cyrus-like clout, as their movie performed below expectations at the box office.

Jonas Brothers Staying Up Late for SNL
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Late Night, NBC, Saturday Night Live
Back on January 10th, Saturday Night Live welcomed country sensation Taylor Swift to the late night stage. One month later, her ex-boyfriend will be given the same opportunity.
On February 14th, Joe Jonas - along with his brothers - will be crooning to all the dateless ladies from that NBC studio. The appearance will come less than a week after the trio performs at this Sunday’s Grammys.
Although this this will be the first SNL visit for the Jonas Brothers, the boy banders will be joined by a 30 Rock veteran. Alec Baldwin, the actual star of 30 Rock, will be making his 14th appearance as host. (Only Steve Martin has fronted the show more times. The Pink Panther 2 star made his 15th stop just last Saturday.)
2009 Golden Globe Awards
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Award Shows, Prime Time, Cable, HBO, NBC, News

One year after a strike-induced absence, the drinking resumed. Although the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards drew its usual set of followers tonight, this year’s program carried even more significance than usual. The reason? Heath Ledger.
With or without the Dark Knight nomination, the ceremony would have been interesting. Was this going to be the year a film about an Indian game show (Slumdog Millionaire) won top prize? Would either Meryl Streep (Mamma Mia, Doubt) or Kate Winslet (Revolutionary Road, The Reader) walk away with two awards? Could Mickey Rourke‘s comeback performance in The Wrestler earn him a surprise win over Sean Penn (Milk)?
To find out the answer to these questions (and many more), you can read our detailed coverage after the jump!

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Award Shows, Comedy, Drama, Games, Kids, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Specials, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Ratings
While it wasn’t the most-watched program last night, the 2008 Teen Choice Awards did earn nice numbers for the under-35 set. Meanwhile, CBS’s repeat roster was the winner in both categories yesterday.
8pm
- The Big Bang Theory* (6.5 million. 2.2/8 in 18-49) climbed 900,000; How I Met Your Mother (6.4 million, 2.2/7) improved by 1.1 million.
- The American Gladiators finale (2.0/6) pulled in 5.3 million.
- Approximately 4.4 million screamed for the Jonas Brothers on the 2008 Teen Choice Awards (1.5/5).
- High School Musical: Get in the Picture* (2.9 million, 0.8/3) took a big hit thanks to that other teen program.
- Gossip Girl* (1.1 million. 0.4/2) only lost 100,000.

(You can view TV Envy’s Summer Television Programming Schedule here.)
MONDAY (7/28)
- Wanna Bet? (ABC,9pm): “Corbin Bernsen, Tom Bergeron, Rip Hamilton and Melissa Peterman are the celebs placing the wagers. Stunts include a man trying to kick himself in the head 45 times in one minute.” Wanna bet people only know who half these ‘celebrities’ are?
- Paranormal State (A&E, 10pm): Season Two premiere. “The team investigates supposed activity at a home, including the mysterious destruction of religious objects and the unexplained appearance of dead animals near the home.” Dead animals? Should they be looking for ghosts or a serial killer?
- Make a Move (DIY, 10pm): “Amy Wynn Pastor helps newlyweds with their eco-conscious home, including projects like a compost heap, a kitchen upgrade and a wall demolition.” Ah, newlyweds. Always so annoyingly optimistic.
- Weeds (Showtime, 10pm): “In Mexico, Celia discovers the joys of discounted medicine at local pharmacies.” If only she had known about the $4 generics at her local Wal-Mart.
