The 60th Primetime Emmy Awards

60th Primetime Emmy Awards logo

Even though the previous television season was marred by the annoying writers’ strike, I find myself really excited for the . Not only will this ceremony give us a chance to start anew, it’ll be the academy’s chance to celebrate what’s new.

Tonight, two basic cable shows (Damages, Mad Men) will get a chance to win for Outstanding Drama Series. (That would be an Emmy first.) Meanwhile, nominees in several categories will have an opportunity to compete in a Sopranos-less environment. An added bonus? A new category. This year, reality show hosts will finally be acknowledged for their programming contributions as well.

So who won? Who lost? Who ran up and grabbed the award even though they didn’t win? Read our West Coast play-by-play account of this evening’s telecast and find out!

Lauren Conrad on Gossip Girl?

Lauren Conrad loves to gossip!Set to appear in an upcoming episode of ABC Family’s Greek, reality star Lauren Conrad has spilled the beans on a guilty pleasure of hers: Gossip Girl.

“I love Gossip Girl. I just love it. It’s so gossipy and superficial. It’s amazing,” Conrad said, obviously never one to try be above such silly things, considering her

role

life on MTV’s The Hills.

Then again, fans of the “fashion designer” shouldn’t get their hopes up—Conrad took it back: “I probably wouldn’t want to see myself on there because it would ruin it for me. I like watching other people get gossiped about. It makes me feel better.”

How profound you are, Lauren!

The Hills Season 4 Trailer

In this trailer for the upcoming season of , we finally get to see all of the drama we already read about in Us Weekly months ago.

Will Lauren finally have a functional relationship? Is Spencer going to keep that pathetic attempt at facial hair around? Will Audrina really become friends with “super bitchy” Lo?

Find out when The Hills returns on August 18.

MTV Hills Crew Terrorizes Hollywood Residents

No peace and quiet in Hollywood!

MTV cannot simply settle for irking television viewers like myself with their silly reality shows. They apparently have to frustrate poor Hollywood resident civilians, too.

Filming their prized “reality” stint, The Hills cast and crew have wreaked havoc among their Hollywood neighbors.

As if the unwanted paparazzi crews are not enough of a nuisance, the filming crew apparently takes up most of the street with their equipment trucks, leaving bright lights shining on the house until late at night when the socialites are not even home!

Not surprisingly, despite these and many more claims, an MTV spokesperson defends the production: “MTV is in accordance with all required production permits, and is working with the city of Los Angeles to assist it with neighborhood concerns that have been raised.”

They sure are good liars over there at MTV.

This Week on TV (3/24-3/30)

The Hills

(You can view TV Envy’s Post-Strike Television Schedule here.)

MONDAY (3/24)

  • How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:30):  The overly-promoted Britney Spears cameo finally airs tonight.  Let’s just be happy the show is only 30-minutes long.
  • Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious (CW, 9pm):  Nicole Scherzinger gives the girls tips on vocal expression.  Sadly, advice on releasing solo albums is not something she can dish out.
  • CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm):  New episode.  “A bride is murdered at her wedding.  The investigation takes the CSIs to a strip club where the bachelor party took place.”  Strip club? This would be the perfect time for another Elizabeth Berkley appearance.
  • The Hills (MTV, 10pm):  Season premiere.  I wonder if LC wore any of her own designs in Paris.  Doubt it.

MySpace’s Tila Tequila Gets Own Show

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Reality, MTV, Cable/Satellite

Tila TequilaI’ve admittedly not kept up with dusty MySpace account, and now I’m not sure if I’m hip enough to return.

—once again proving they’re the place to turn to for quality programming—will be introducing another dating/reality show this fall.  The ingenious twist?  This time around male and female contestants will be competing to date the same personTila Tequila.  For those oblivious (like I was) to this internet celebrity, the bisexual beauty is apparently ‘the most popular girl in the history of MySpace’.  Should I now feel sad that she’s not one of my ‘friends’?

Once her show A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila debuts on October 9th, Tila will work on becoming the most popular girl on MTV as well.  Take note, !
