Can ABC Family’s Huge Series Be Saved?

ABC Family made a bold move last summer when they introduced Huge, a series revolving around the plus-sized attendees of a fat camp. Hairspray’s Nikki Blonsky was a dynamic part of the ensemble cast, which also featured Hayley Hasselhoff.

The show was well-received by critics and fans, but inexplicably the order was recently given for Huge’s cancellation. Blonsky said the news caught her “off guard. We were so thrilled with the reviews we got."

Nikki Blonsky Stars in Huge ABC Family Project

Something big is happening on ABC Family. The cable network has been turning out a run of successful series in the past few years (The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Make It or Break It both logged impressive ratings when they debuted), and now ABC Family is ready to begin a huge new television project. Hairspray’s will be featured in a 10-episode stint of Huge, a series based on the book by Sasha Paley.

Two and a Half Men: Now that everyone’s forgotten about his star-studded Bobby, director Emilio Estevez will soon be returning to his acting roots. In an upcoming episode of the CBS comedy, Emilio will play a drinking buddy of Charlie’s. (For those who don’t already know, Sheen is Estevez’s younger brother in real-life.) This cameo comes three years after their father, Martin Sheen, guested as Rose’s father.
