Dancing with the Stars to Honor Patrick Swayze

Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze in Dirty DancingNext week’s three-day premiere of Dancing with the Stars will include a tribute to one of their early contributors. On Wednesday, the program will take time out to honor Dirty Dancing star .

Back in 2005, the actor/dancer made a brief appearance on the freshman series as a coach for John O’Hurley. He also sat in the audience during the Season 1 finale to support his friend.

“He was one of the few people to integrate dance with being an A-list actor,” executive producer said. “He inspired many people and many of our pros to dance. We want to honor the great moments he’s brought to film by getting our dancers to do their interpretation to some music from his films.”

DWTS’ ninth season begins Monday, September 21 @ 8:00.

Patrick Swayze’s TV Series Greenlit by A&E

Patrick Swayze out and about, on his way to full recoveryAfter lying low for awhile to cope with his diagnosis and receive treatment, Patrick Swayze has jumped back into work with his plans to begin filming on his new TV series.

The A&E drama entitled The Beast, announced back in October of last year, is an FBI drama focusing on the relationship between Swayze’s veteran cop character Charles Barker, whose job is to teach his rookie partner (played by Travis Fimmel) his “eccentric” undercover ways.

“I have searched for quite a long time to find a character that is this multi-layered, unpredictable and downright entertaining, as well as a project this current and cutting edged,” Swayze reveals of his character.

Whoopi Goldberg Addresses Former Co-Star Patrick Swayze

She revealed that her memorable role in the weeper was primarily due to her former co-star’s influence.  Had Swayze not influenced director Jerry Zucker to cast Goldberg, she would not have received her 1991 win for Best Supporting Actress.

Swayze will star alongside (best know for, if at all, his role on WB’s Tarzan) who will play his more straight-laced partner. Move over Benson and Stabler, Swayze and Fimmel are taking over the streets! Beast will be produced by Sony Pictures which has yet to announce an air date or what retirement home they pulled Swayze out of.
