Whoopi’s Oops on The View

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Daytime, Talk Shows, ABC, Gossip, Video

It seems Whoopi Goldberg has the same problem I do - telling long-bearded wizards apart. Ian McKellen (that’s Sir to you) stopped by the set of to talk about Lord of the Rings…and ended up getting asked about Harry Potter instead. Specifically, he was asked if he was “coming back” in the next Harry movie.

He explained that he might return to the Potter movies - if he was , the actor who is in them. “But I don’t play Dumbledore,” McKellen remained smooth - leave it to an Englishman. “I play in Lord of the Rings,” he explained to Whoopi. Aw, heck, who can tell the difference under all that facial hair?

Rod Blagojevich and Wife to Appear Together on The View

Posted by Jacci Lewis Categories: Daytime, Talk Shows, ABC, Gossip

The View cast

Daytime talk show has become the No Excuses jeans of the new millenium. You remember No Excuses jeans, right? No Excuses Sportswear spent the late 80’s and early 90’s capitalizing on infamous media stories by using the women involved in those stories to model their cheesy blue jeans. Donna Rice (disgraced Presidential Candidate Gary Hart’s “Monkey Business” lap mate) and Marla Maples (the reason for Donald and Ivana Trump’s divorce) are just a couple of the flash-in-the-pan media darlings who squeezed into a pair of No Excuses for a quick buck and some extra noteriety.

Watch Shepherd’s Fight with Hasselbeck on The View

Although was once known Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s conservative ally, the comedienne has been started to drift further away from her co-host politically.

On today’s episode of , the ladies questioned whether certain events should be dredged up in the presidential campaigns. Needless to say - they had very different opinions on the matter. (Things start really heating up around the 3:45 mark.)

McCain Also Caught Talking About Lipstick on Pigs

Barack ObamaHaven’t heard the latest controversy about pigs wearing lipstick? Well, then you haven’t been watching the news.

Today, is being fired upon from John McCain’s camp about comments he made during a speech yesterday. When talking about his opponent’s plan for change, the Democratic candidate chose to use this colorful analogy: “You can put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig.”

And while that phrase has been used many times before, McCain supporters felt Barack’s “sexist” comment was aimed directly toward (the “Pitbull with Lipstick”). Unfortunately, the Republicans also failed to realize that their own candidate had used that same analogy about a certain female contender last year.

In today’s episode of The View, the ladies of the table talked about the two different soundbites. (You can watch both of them here.) If you listen closely, you might also hear Elisabeth Hasselbeck defend Barack Obama…

  • Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm):  Season 2 premiere. “Summer in the Hamptons winds down as Serena and Nate carry on a cover-up scheme to make others think they’re dating.” A few choice pics sent to Gossip Girl should do the trick.
  • Prison Break (FOX, 8pm):  Season 4 premiere. “Michael is in LA looking to even the score with Gretchen for Sara’s death.” I think Gretchen should really apologize for all of last season.
  • One Tree Hill (CW, 9pm):  Season 6 premiere. “Lucas’ chosen lady meets him at the airport, while Dan’s accident proves life-threatening.” Sorry. So not caring who picks these days.
  • Raising the Bar (TNT, 10pm):  Series premiere. “Idealistic public defender Jerry Kellerman (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) fights for a man he’s sure is innocent, but holding a court is a judge who loathes Kellerman.” Gosselaar’s new hair has been generating some passionate opinions.

Whoopi Kisses Katy Perry on The View

Although no tears were shed on today’s episode of The View, the co-hosts once again managed to get people talking.

After her performance of the hit song ‘I Kissed A Girl’, singer Katy Perry got a nice surprise from .

Whoopi Goldberg Makes Elisabeth Hasselbeck Cry

Regardless of whether you agree with the topic at hand, it’s always a great day on when a co-host ends up crying. It’s even better day when Elisabeth Hasselbeck is the one doing it.

On today’s show, things became quite tense between Elisabeth and during a discussion about the “N” word:

Jessica Simpsons’ Live Country Performance on The View

Jessica SimpsonWhen I first heard Jessica Simpson’s newest single back in May, I said the singer should probably stick with country music. (When compared to the fluff she had been attempting before, it really seems to be the style best suited for her.)

Now after seeing her perform ‘Come On Over’ live on (you can watch that clip after the jump), I would like to offer Simpson just one more piece of advice: don’t ever let people see you sing.

One of the many things that has always bothered me about Jessica - aside from her love of the Dallas Cowboys - is her freaky facial distortions. Sadly, I’ve discovered her painful expressions (and general inability to move) will accompany her regardless of the genre she’s working in.

This Week on TV (6/16-6/22)

Weeds' Mary Louise Parker

(You can view TV Envy’s Summer Television Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY (6/16)

  • The Bachelorette: DeAnna Tells All (ABC, 8pm):  “With six bachelors remaining, assesses the competition to win her heart so far, as do her six beaus.” Apparently revealing their boxers just hasn’t told her enough.
  • Weeds (Showtime, 10pm):  Season premiere. “Nancy, Andy and the boys, on the run after she set fire to their house, head to the beach and a ‘heartwarming family reunion’ with Judah’s grandmother.” Had I known this show was only 30-minutes long, I could have caught up a long time ago!
  • The Mole (ABC, 10pm):  “The contestants, clad in nothing but their underwear, hit the streets of Santiago, Chile and solicit clothing.” At this point, the show could probably use a little skin to ramp interest up a bit.
  • Secret Diary of a Call Girl (Showtime, 10:30pm):  Series premiere. “A high-priced London escort entertains a middle-aged client who enjoys role-playing and has a penchant for being down on the farm.” I think that summary says it all.
