Ricky Gervais Rarely Watched American Version of ‘The Office’

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, ABC, The Office, Features,

Ricky GervaisRicky Gervais isn't emotionally attached to the American version of The Office.

The 51-year-old British comedian - who created the original BBC series - admits he has only watched the NBC version, starring Steve Carell, a few times and is only a fan because it has made him more money than any of his other TV shows. "I don't think I've seen much of it. It wasn't my baby. It was my rights, so I cashed the checks. I think it was good, but I didn't have the same emotional attachment to it. I [have made] more [money] than anything else probably I've ever done. It's the gift that keeps on giving, syndication," he told the June issue of GQ magazine.

Ricky insists he is not worried about the lukewarm response his new show Derek has received from his fans: "I don't worry about it at all. I think I'm pretty self-aware. I think I know what I'm doing. You know when you've been a prat, you know when you're being a prat, you know when something sounds pretentious. They mean they don't like Derek as much as Extras? Science as much as Animals [two of his stand-up specials]? They mean they don't like me. That's what they mean. So they're trying to justify their dislike in a critical response."

South Park Sued for Copying YouTube Video

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Animation, Comedy, Prime Time, Cable, Video,

Many South Park fans remember the 2008 “Canada on Strike” episode, which celebrated/parodied some of the Internet’s biggest YouTube sensations. The “Chocolate Rain” guy, dramatic gopher and "Star Wars kid" were all portrayed in the episode … but none of them are the one who’s suing the show.

South Park, cable network Comedy Central and parent company Viacom are being collectively sued for copyright infringement of the YouTube hit “What What (in the Butt).” The video, which has scored over 33 million views, was re-made on Park, with Butters playing the role of YouTube singer Samwell. The video above shows a comparison of the two videos, highlighting the similarities.

Watch out, . Your (much) younger American match has just been found.

Tuesday night on America’s Got Talent, a small singing sensation wowed the judges with her large voice. That’s when Jackie Evancho, discovered through YouTube auditions, stunned the crowd with her rendition of “O Mio Babbino Caro.”

“I started singing when I was eight years old, because we went to see Phantom of the Opera, so I started singing songs around the house,” the 10-year-old from Philadelphia explained in her pre-taped bio.

VIDEO: Old Spice Guy Continues to Entertain with Personalized Clips

He’s made diamonds fall out of oysters, climbed seamlessly onto a horse and swan dived into a hot tub. Now, is mastering social media.

Over the past two days, the Old Spice personality has been cranking out a series of YouTube videos addressing comments/questions posted on such sites as Twitter and Facebook. Although he’s given hilarious shout-outs to actors (e.g. Ashton Kutcher, Alyssa Milano), companies (e.g. Starbucks, VH1) and sports figures (e.g. Chicago Blackhawks, Apolo Ohno), I personally have enjoyed the clips he’s created for the non-personalities the best.

In addition to fighting, romance and bathing advice, Mustafa has even helped deliver a marriage proposal. (She said yes!) Although there are way too many videos to highlight, you can view some of my favorites after the jump. (You can also find other clips on Old Spice’s YouTube channel.)

VIDEO: YouTube Star Sings on Ellen, Talks to Lady Gaga

Imagine your mother texting you at school to let you know that you’ll be appearing on Ellen.

That’s exactly what happened yesterday to Greyson Michael Chance - the young boy who has rocked the Internet with his Lady Gaga cover.

After seeing his YouTube video, host Ellen DeGeneres immediately flew out the 12-year-old - apparently he’s not 13 - to not only perform “Paparazzi” on national TV, but to speak on the phone with “Miss Gaga” herself.

I can only imagine how low his classmates’ jaws will drop now.
