On Gear Live: Samsung S95C: The OLED TV You Can’t Afford (to Ignore!)

This Week on TV (12/1-12/7)

Barbara Walters and Tom Cruise

(You can view TV Envy’s Master Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY 12/1)
  • Shrek the Halls (ABC, 8pm): Hopefully this Mike Myers laugher will help us all forget The Love Guru.
  • Inside the Actor’s Studio (Bravo, 8pm):  “Daniel Radcliffe, star of the Harry Potter film franchise, charts his career journey.” I’m not sure I want to see James Lipton enthusiastically talking about Radcliffe’s nude Broadway performance.
  • Heroes (NBC, 9pm):  “Ando, Sam and Frack try to restore Hiro’s memory with a comic book.” Any person trying to follow this series should be given an instruction manual.
  • Boston Legal (ABC, 10pm):  “When Denny receives bad news about the state of his Alzheimer’s, Alan goes before the Massachusetts Supreme Court to plead for access to an experimental drug that can help his condition.” Alzheimers? Maybe Shatner simply forgot why George Takei dislikes him so.

Shrek the Halls With a Big Green Ogre

Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Animation, Kids, Prime Time, ABC,

Shrek the Halls Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la! Not only will Shrek the Third be coming to DVD soon (November 13), but will be airing a Christmas special with the loveable green guy and his band of kooky friends. I don’t know how well it will hold up to classic fan favorites like How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman or A Charlie Brown Christmas, but I’m all for a new Christmas special that isn’t another sequel to Frosty. Shrek the Halls will air on November 28th at 8:00 p.m. and will no doubt thrill kids with the animation and voice talents of , , and . The ogre’s humbug ways are challenged by his family and friends (even the Gingerbread Man of “Not my gumdrop buttons!” infamy is on hand) and you can bet the gang will make the holidays truly special. Because that’s how all Christmas specials end, right? Now I’d like to see Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas return to television—you can keep your Frosty Returns and Frosty’s Winter Wonderland—bring on the jug band!

New SNL Documentary in the Works

Will Ferrell Who knew that there were Saturday Night Live documentaries in existence? Well, it’s news to me, and I consider myself a pretty diehard SNL fan. Through good times and bad, I’ve watched… So, I just read that NBC has ordered a documentary about the show during the 1990s. Cool, I thought, then I read that there were two previous documentaries. Huh? Guess I’ve got to hunt those down because I love that behind-the-scenes kind of stuff. This latest edition is called Saturday Night Live in the ‘90s: Pop Culture Nation and promises to be “funny, dramatic and filled with great clips and new interviews featuring the biggest comedy stars of today. These are the backstage stories that made headlines.” What makes this great will be interviews of former cast members and writers—Mike Myers, Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, Cheri Oteri, Chris Rock, Molly Shannon, Tim Meadows and Jimmy Fallon. You can catch the documentary on May 6th.
