MONDAY 3/2)
  • The Bachelor (ABC, 8pm):  “It’s down to Melissa and Molly as Jason bestows the final rose.” But first, two more quick trips to the hot tub.
  • Rules of Engagement (CBS, 9:30pm):  Season premiere. “Audrey learns Russell is a closet Broadway musical fan, and uses the knowledge to blackmail him for theater tickets.” Tip: Blackmail is best used when Broadway shows aren’t closing.
  • CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm):  “A murder occurs onboard a yacht belonging to high-powered attorney Derek Powell (Sean Combs).” Blood at Diddy’s “White Party”? That’s gonna stain.

Spinoff News: Gossip Girl, The L Word, NCIS

Gossip GirlGossip Girl

: Apparently when executive producer Josh Schwartz said back in June that there were “no plans for spinoff at this moment,” what he really meant was: “We aren’t planning anything for Jenny Humphrey.”

After months of speculation, CW finally announced that they will be creating a backdoor pilot for what could possibly be a spinoff. (This would be similar to what Shonda Rhimes did with Private Practice.) If the test run is successful, the new series would not involve any actors from the sophomore show, nor would it even be located in New York.

(You can view TV Envy’s Midseason Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY 1/12)
  • 24 (FOX, 8pm):  “Jack is released from his Senate subcommittee hearing to help with the domestic threat and the investigation into former colleague Tony Almeida.” I can’t imagine what he would do to just to get out of jury duty.
  • Kyle XY (ABC Family, 9pm):  Season 3 premiere. “Lori, Declan, Josh and Andy deal with the choices they made at the prom.” Whatever happens at prom, stays at prom.
  • Man vs. Wild (Discovery, 10pm):  “An adventure in the jungles of Belize has the host reckoning with a 9-foot boa constrictor and a dangerous white-water river.” The longer the snake, the more skin to pee in.

The Last Season for The L Word

The L Word has just announced that it will be giving fans of a sixth and final season.

The drama - one of the longest-running series on the cable channel - debuted back in January 2004.  The show, which initially drew attention because of its cast of primarily lesbian characters, was not the first gay-themed program for Showtime.  Queer as Folk had already made its debut in 2000.  (Folk closed up shop after five rounds.)

The last eight episodes of the series are slated for air in early 2009.  Meanwhile, the current season’s finale is scheduled for March 23.
