Sunday Ratings: Undercover Boss Jumps Over the Competition

CBS chose wisely when they picked their post-Super Bowl time slot winner. Outside of the sports competition on NBC, the action during the 9:00 time slot was clearly on CBS. New reality series Undercover Boss had the best viewers and demos of the night.

8pm

• The Winter Olympics (5.7/14 in 18-49) attracted 22.4 million spectators for NBC.
• The Amazing Race (2.9/7) got 9.1 million charting the course.
• Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (2.5/6) nailed down 8 million.
• The Simpsons (3.0/8) had 6.1 million laughing.
• The Cleveland Show (2.8/7) entertained 5.6 million.

• The Grammys (25.8 million, 9.8/24 in 18-49) had its best demos in six years.
• Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (2.2/5) nailed down 8.5 million.
• The Simpsons (2.4/6) raised 5.1 million.
• Dateline (0.9/2) averaged 4.8 million over two hours.
• The Cleveland Show (2.2/5) rounded up 4.5 million.

Sunday Ratings: Fresh Start for Chuck?

• The Simpsons: 20th Anniversary Special (5.6 rating) had nearly 13 million reminiscing.
• Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (3.2/8) got 10.6 million all choked up.
• NCIS: LA* (1.0/3) dialed in 7 million.
• Dateline (1.5/4) reported to 6.3 million.

Sunday Ratings: Eagles Sack the President

As nice as Christmas must be in the White House, the action is clearly on the gridiron. Despite cheerful numbers for Oprah’s primetime special, the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants was easily the night’s top contender.

• Approximately 17.9 million saw the Eagles beat the Giants on Sunday Night Football (7.0/17 in 18-49).
• Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (3.1/8) averaged 10.1 million over two hours.
• The Mentalist* (1.9/5) pulled in 9.5 million for CBS.
• The Simpsons (3.2/8) nabbed 7.1 million.
• The Cleveland Show (3.0/7) turned in 6.5 million.

Sunday Ratings: Touchdown for NBC

There’s nothing NBC loves more than football Sunday. Last night’s game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers gave the network something to thankful for over the holiday weekend.

• Sunday Night Fooball (17.2 million, 6.6/16 in 18-49) had 2.1 million more cheering.
• Approximately 11.6 million saw the Globetrotters eliminated from The Amazing Race (3.4/8).
• Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (10.3 million, 3.0/7) slipped by 1.3 million.
• The Simpsons (8.9 million, 4.2/10) added on 1.9 million; The Cleveland Show (7.1 million, 3.5/8) raised another 600,000.

Now that baseball is finally over, it’s time to get back to the gridiron. Last night’s game between the Dallas Cowboy and the Philadelphia Eagles gave NBC something it hasn’t seen in a while: wins in both the viewers and the demos.

• Yesterday’s Sunday Night Football game (19.8 million, 7.6/19 in 18-49) hit a season-high rating.
• The Amazing Race (10.5 million, 3.1/8) was off by 600,000.
• Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (10.4 million, 3.0/7) lost 400,000.
• Family Guy (3.7/9) kicked off the evening with 7.4 million; Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show (3.4/8) attracted 6.6 million.

The Yankees struck another one out of the park last night for FOX. The game between New York and the Philadelphia Phillies was easily the hottest ticket this Sunday.

• The Amazing Race (11.1 million, 3.2/8) was on par with last week.
• Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (10.8 million, 3.4/8) was up slightly.
• NBC’s broadcast of National Treasure (1.7/4) entertained 4.6 million.
