Britney Spears: Icon for Female Fashion?

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Gossip, Rumors,

Britney SpearsIt’s been announced that will host a fashion event in Beverly Hills next month: the Scandinavian Style Mansion party. The founder of the event said Spears is “a style icon for women” and they’re quite pleased she’ll be involved. (Listen, when women start taking fashion clues from Britney Spears we’ll all be wearing black bustiers - and no one wants that on a runway.)

In other Britney news, The Associated Press is preparing for the eventual death of Spears. Not that they want her to meet her demise anytime soon, but they do want to be prepared if/when she does kick off.  The news media sometimes prepares celeb obits in advance, though generally not for stars who are still so young.

‘Gossip Girl’ Fans To Get a Full Season

Gossip GirlStrong word-of-mouth has earned CW newbie, Gossip Girl, a full-season order.  The Josh Schwartz () series is a perfect replacement for those who loved his last production,   The show stars (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) as Serena van der Woodsen, a girl who returns to her vicious private school after mysteriously leaving town.  plays Blair Waldorf, Serena’s former best friend and current frenemy.

The catty series has so far proven to be a much darker version of our typical teenage dramas (imagine The O.C. plus Heathers).  And with voyeuristic narration supplied by the anonymous ‘gossip girl’, things get to be so much cattier.

For those who have not yet watched the series, it’s not too late.  The first two episodes are currently hot iTunes downloads.  Once you get yourself caught up, you can find on Wednesdays @ 9pm on The CW.  I promise you—the backstabbing here is much more exciting than that / battle.  Plus - you’ll come to learn valuable fashion lessons.  Had I not watched last week, how would I have known that blue eyeshadow was back?

The 59th Annual Primetime Emmys: In Review

EmmyIt was an evening of firsts at the 59th annual primetime Emmys. The first time the awards show was on . The first time Ryan Seacrest (resident FOX golden boy) hosted. The first time green concerns were proudly touted. And the first time I didn’t laugh at the Emmy host – not even once. FOX unabashedly promoted their own stars and shows all night long, though there were precious few wins for the network. Brian and Stewie from Family Guy provided some animated laughs, Lewis Black ranted and raved and performed a bit in the middle of the whole thing, and I found myself largely confused throughout the three hour-plus broadcast. Toward the end, Seacrest actually walked out on stage in a Henry VIII costume and told a gay joke – I couldn’t make this up if I tried, this actually happened. TV’s elite looked on in a mixture of horror and worry. Seacrest, unsurprisingly, acted and spoke exactly as he does while on American Idol. The strange, round stage provoked a lot of funny comments, and for a rare awards show change it was the acceptance speeches that became the saving grace of the FOX broadcast.
