MONDAY (6/30)
- American Gladiators (NBC, 8pm): “Four amateur athletes who successfully lost weight are featured.” That’s exactly the way Wolf likes them: nice and skinny.
- The Bachelorette: The Men Tell All (ABC, 9pm): “Fifteen of DeAnna’s suitors dish with - and about - the Bachelorette who let them get away.” Thankfully, this version is not the one we would get on MTV.
- 46664: A Concert for Nelson Mandela (VH1, 9pm): Those helping to celebrate Mandela’s life outside bars include performers who should be behind them (e.g. Amy Winehouse).
- Verminators (Discovery, 10pm): “The source of a roach infestation at an apartment building shocks Mike.” There’s a reason why they say ignorance is bliss.

American Gladiators’ ratings slide didn’t stop another reality competition from making a splashy debut yesterday. Last night, Wipeout had the best debut for any freshman summer series since last year. The show gave the ABC a win in the demos while NBC had a hold on the viewers.

- The debut of Wipeout (9.9 million, 3.7/12 in 18-49) had the night’s best demos.
- Celebrity Family Feud (2.3/8) premiered to 8.8 million.

Technology Battles Primetime, Networks Don’t Give Up

Thanks to tape recorders, DVR, video on demand, webcasts, and more, statistics have revealed that not only have the 27 series that premiered last year bombed, but nearly 9% of prime time viewers went M.I.A. since last year.
Okay, okay, so maybe it’s not completely technology’s fault. After all, studios do allow their episodes to be streamed online, and yeah, there was that little itty-bitty writer’s strike that went on for 100 days. Either way, network executives are always battling TiVo/DVR systems, although no one knows for sure just why they stream their own episodes online. Thankfully, they haven’t given up on us. Instead, they’re getting a bit more creative.

Wednesday Ratings: Fewer Viewers Give Back to American Idol
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Games, Music, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, America’s Next Top Model, American Idol, Ratings,
An Idol Gives Back show without an elimination is really just a so-so event. Although the program was last night’s most watched program, it was down 34% in the demos from a year ago.
8pm
- American Idol (6.7/18 in 18-49) had 17.6 million feeling charitable.
- Deal or No Deal (9.6 million, 2.4/7) was up 300,000.

MONDAY (4/7)
- Today (NBC, 10am): Kathie Lee Gifford returns to morning TV this week. And I thought the New Kids were getting old.
- Samantha Who? (ABC, 9:30pm): New episode. “Samantha has to move back into the apartment when she learns that she could be evicted for subletting it to Todd.” The girlfriend you hate gets amnesia and you get to keep her apartment. Todd has seriously been getting off easy so far.
- The Bachelor (ABC, 10pm): “It’s an afternoon of tennis and tea for six of the ladies.” I’ve seen what an afternoon of women’s tennis can look like on The Real Housewives of NYC. This won’t end pretty.
- Medium (NBC, 10pm): “Rosanna Arquette stars as an older seductress linked to the brutal murders of two younger men.” Maybe it’s best her relationship with Paul McCartney fizzled out.
