Review: Hitched or Ditched
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, The CW, Gossip
In the midst of between-season re-runs and in place of 90210, The CW managed to sneak in a new reality show. And thus, Hitched or Ditched premiered last night with its pilot, “Bastards Out of Carolina.” Relationships, the possibility of marriage (or a public dumping), family drama and episode titles this titillating? Yeah, it was pretty much a given that this one was going to be good.
In this starter episode, viewers were introduced to the first in a season-long line of couples. For this showing, Hitched or Ditched presented us with CeLisa and Travis. She’s a 26 year old nanny, he’s a 32 year old building contractor. At the top of the episode, they were presented as a couple that’s very much in love…but. She thinks he’s got commitment and jealousy issues; he thinks she’s too much of a wild child and can’t seem to fully trust her. When CeLisa told the cameras that she feels her biological clock “ticking, ticking, ticking,” I felt a shiver of dread.
Like, no wonder the dude’s afraid of marriage.

Here Come the Newlyweds
Posted by Jacci Lewis Categories: Games, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Dancing With The Stars, Editorial
Throw Big Brother 9, The Newlywed Game and those gag-inducing eHarmony commercials into a blender and what do you get? You get ABC’s new “romantic comedy” reality show, Here Come the Newlyweds. ABC already airs Wife Swap, Supernanny and The Bachelor—did we really need yet another show to convince skittish singles to flee into the woods?
The premise of Here Come the Newlyweds is fairly straightforward. Seven recently married couples live together and compete for a nest egg worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. The season will air over six episodes. As ABC’s website claims, “Each couple faces a variety of mental and physical challenges which will test the love and passion they have for one another as well as their competitive spirit.” At the end of each episode, one couple is voted out by the others. The last marriage standing wins the grand prize.

Pamela Anderson Denies Pregnancy Rumors
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Gossip, Rumors
Is Pam pregnant? The star issued a very short and sweet statement in response to the pregnancy rumors now surfacing: “No.” The denial was posted in Pamela Anderson’s blog, a disavowal of the big Internet news that she and hubby Rick Salomon are expecting. In a recent E! interview, Anderson said she’ll not have any more kids.
Anderson filed for divorce from Salomon in December but changed her mind shortly thereafter, according to reports. Though Anderson maintains she and Salomon are working on their relationship, the divorce petition has not been withdrawn. Anderson has also recently hinted that she may have a TV project in the works with cable channel E! - though she says she won’t ever do a reality show.

Pamela Anderson Pregnant Yet Divorcing
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Gossip, Rumors
We have now reached the next phase of the strange Anderson/Salomon saga.
As we reported last month, actress Pamela Anderson filed for divorce from Rick Salomon, her freshly minted husband. But only days after submitting the paperwork, things were put on hold. The buxom blonde appeared to have a change of heart and blogged that she and Rick were “working things out.” Well, less than a month later, it seems that a reconciliation is no longer in the works. Since her Dec. 17th post, not one reference has been made about the (in)significant other.
Let’s make it clear, no one ever imagined the Baywatch beauty and - what exactly does he do? - Paris Hilton’s porn tape co-star would last as a couple. So it should not be surprising that the divorce is apparently proceeding as planned. But here’s the latest twist: it is now being reported that the magician’s assistant is also pregnant.
Can the demise of the marriage be blamed on the vegetarian bun in the oven? Was it the phrase ‘Shannen Doherty’ on Rick’s marital resume? Did Tommy Lee and/or Kid Rock threaten to smack him up? Who knows. Let’s just hope Pamela can soon learn to discard men like she has meat.

A Redneck Look at Matrimony
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Cable, Gossip
CMT is set to start airing My Big Redneck Wedding, an eight-episode reality series which will feature Tom Arnold at the helm. Each episode will showcase a different redneck wedding, highlighting particularly countrified wedding elements (shotguns, beer cans, etc.). One episode even promises to feature mud wrestling at the wedding reception. (If that doesn’t say redneck, nothing does.) The series will premiere on CMT January 11 at 9:30 pm.
CMT is also behind interesting, funny reality shows like Trick My Truck and the spin-off Trick My Trucker, which offers weight-loss and exercise tips, boot camp style, to out-of-shape drivers.

Another Divorce for Pamela Anderson?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Gossip, Rumors
It all makes sense now.
Shortly after canceling her proposed reality series, Pamela Anderson filed for divorce from third hubby, Rick Salomon. The couple, who exchanged rings Oct. 6th, first starting dating after she ‘repaid’ a gambling debt.
Unfortunately Pamela has been known for her complicated relationships, and this marriage is no exception. Although she submitted paperwork in Los Angeles Superior Court last Friday, she was spotted with Salomon just days after. As of today, Anderson is telling fans via her website that they are “working things out.”
Working things out? If this relationship drags out any longer, I’m gonna lose the money I put into the pool!

Scott Baio….No Longer Single
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, Gossip
As we mentioned back in August, Charles in Charge’s Scott Baio had enough personal issues to fill another season of reality programming. Now we have a better idea what we will see when his life unfolds for the cameras again next month.
The famous playboy, and star of Scott Baio is 45…and Single, had spent the duration of his summer VH1 show trying to figure out if he was finally ready for marriage. With the help of a life coach, Baio dealt with a myriad of issues from his past relationships. Although he was known for cheating on most of his high-profile romances, it truly seemed that he was on the road to commitment by the series’ final episode. Unfortunately, that was also when his girlfriend, Renee Sloan, decided to drop a bombshell on him: he was gonna be a daddy.
Several months later, Scott is now the father of a baby girl…and a newlywed. The nuptials - which took place in Los Angeles just this past weekend - will be documented in Season 2 when it premieres this January. No word yet whether the show will be retitled to reflect Baio’s current status.

A Whole New Type of Bachelor for ABC
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, ABC, The Bachelor, Gossip, Ratings
ABC has announced the newest Bachelor, the eleventh hunk to hand out roses. Born in Atlanta and raised in Texas, dark-haired Brad Womack is an entrepreneur – a blue-collar hunk on a show that has heretofore featured much more pedigreed studs. Thirty-four years old, Womack left Texas State University to work in oil fields around Texas, Louisiana, California, and North Dakota. He learned bartending and started to save money, with his brothers, to open his own bar at the age of twenty-eight. Today, Womack owns four bars in the Texas area. But evidently, he hasn’t been so lucky in love. Enter reality TV opportunities.

Newlyweds Reach Divorce Settlement
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Music, Reality, Cable/Satellite, News
Newlyweds Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson have reached an agreement about their divorce settlement—surprisingly enough, Nick will be walking away with less than expected. Perhaps to put things behind him quickly, Lachey agreed to take much less than the 50 percent he’s entitled to. Since Simpson didn’t sign a prenuptial agreement, California law entitles him to half of the assets. At half, Lachey would get $18 million, but he has decided to settle for less, bypassing the need to go to court.
Neither Simpson nor Lachey have withered from the spotlight since the split. Lachey’s recent wins at the Teen Choice awards and romance with MTVs Vanessa Minnillo, as well as the popularity of his heartbreaking song “What’s Left of Me,” have kept him front and center. Similarly, Simpson continues to get attention with her new album “A Public Affair,” her bout with laryngitis, and links to both funny man Dane Cook and musician John Mayer (she’s not dating either of them).
