Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Reality, American Idol, Gossip,

Fantasia, 24, won the third season of American Idol…but now, she’s going after an even bigger goal: a high school education.

“I’ve been talking about it for so long,” she said in a recent interview. Barrino dropped out of school in the ninth grade. “It’s something that I really need to do and that I want to do.”

The singer made headlines recently when she experienced financial trouble. But, Fantasia says she’s doing much better these days. “I had to sit back for awhile and had to get some things settled,” she explained.

Fantasia will be working on releasing an album (her third) as well as her education this year, and could potentially be starring on another reality show in short order. Lately, her production company has been searching for a network willing to take on a Fantasia-oriented series.

Singer George Michael To Appear on ABC Show

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, ABC,

George MichaelAlmost 10 years after his infamous public bathroom arrest, George Michael will once again be appearing on American television sets—but this time, he won’t be the subject of a news report.  The singer is scheduled to appear in ABC’s mid-season drama, Eli Stone.

Stone stars (a.k.a. ex-husband #1) as a man who suffers hallucinations and believes he might be a prophet.  (Seeing visions of George Michael singing ‘Faith’ will do that to a guy.)  Although Michael was originally scheduled to be in the pilot only, the producers have since asked him to sing and act in two more episodes.

Interestingly enough, George told the BBC recently that he has been unsuccessful in giving up his marijuana habit.  I wonder what ABC’s parent company (Disney) will think about that news…

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Forces Barry Manilow to Cancel

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Daytime, Talk Shows, ABC, Syndication,

Barry ManilowI’m not sure whether to consider this silly or hilarious…but I’m going with the latter.

Crooner Barry Manilow has apparently canceled a scheduled appearance on tomorrow’s episode of .  The reason?  A disagreement in politics.  The Copacabana singer told TMZ that he considers conservative to be ‘dangerous and offensive’.  Although he’s currently on a promotional tour, he is refusing to ‘share the same stage as her’ because of their differences in opinions.  It’s not clear why the gig was ever scheduled to begin with.

Any guess how long it will take to write a haiku about this?

‘Dancing With The Stars’ Lineup Announced

Dancing With the StarsThe official lineup for ‘s was announced this morning on .  And despite the ‘leaked’ list you might have heard about this week, here is the correct list as presented by Apolo Ohno, and host Tom Bergeron:

  • Melanie Brown (a.k.a. ‘Scary Spice’) - Baby momma of Eddie Murphy’s latest child.
  • Sabrina Bryan - ‘Cheetah’ girl (I don’t want to know what that means).
  • Jennie Garth - 90210 alum #12 (if you include Ian Ziering from last season)
  • Josie Maran - The supermodel of the female contestants.  I’m already voting against her.
  • Marie Osmond - She’s a little bit country.
  • Jane Seymour - Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman
  • Helio Castroneves - He’s going to drive his partner all over the dance floor.
  • Mark Cuban - If he doesn’t win, he’ll probably just buy the network.
  • Cameron Mathison - A soap star from All My Children.  As if ABC needed more publicity.
  • Wayne Newton - Mr. Las Vegas will have to learn how to share a stage.
  • Floyd Mayweather, Jr. - Apparently the producers felt all boxers could dance.
  • Albert Reed - I hear he’s a model as well.  I approve of this one.

Hey Paula! Have I Got A Few Things To Say To You…

Paula Abdul Let me first say that while it is not a quality show by any means, Hey Paula has given me exactly what I was hoping for:  a train wreck that I can count on.

And while I curse Paula Abdul weekly for being ditzy, overly emotional and sometimes rude (especially to her assistants)...I applaud her for opening up and showing us her true character.  Though I’m sure the actual results are much different from what I’m assuming she intended.
