Despite a nice showing for NBC’s Muppets special, audiences had their sights set on criminals last night. CBS was #1 with the viewers and the demos once again.

Here in my area, NEW episodes of “Criminal Minds” are now quite regularly pre-empted by basketball.

I can’t always go by my own tastes on what is popular, but I thought this is a really strong show to be relegated to 3:00 am in my viewing area by a sporting event that wouldn’t seem to draw as many viewers as one of the few intelligent shows with actual resources thrown behind it . They actually pay actors, some of whom are kind of good. They actually pay writers, some of them good. This is quite a maverick concept in these days.

I’m glad to have reinforcement of my opinion by the top show rating.

I am afraid, I am very afraid, that good TV is a thing of the past because there has not been an uprising about a top TV show’s new episodes being dissed in this way.

Maybe they think everyone who counts has TIVO?

I would really hate to see an excellent show go down the tubes because the folks in charge are so obtuse.

Can you imagine being an actor/director/producer/anyone involved in this excellent show’s production, and instead of your promised slot in prime time, you are aired at 3:00 am? :-o

It should be illegal!

But still they RULE!

We will see how long that lasts with the pre-empting going on

What I’d like to know is why? Are the TV moguls making money so hand over fist in my area that they can totally ignore consumer demand?

Weird, really weird!
