Celebrate 90210 on 9-02-10
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, Gossip,
It’s been 20 years since the show first premiered, but the time has finally come—the day when 90210 became an actual date.
Although the fall season has not yet officially begun, the CW wants to make sure September 2, (20)10, a.k.a. “90210 Day,” does not go unnoticed. To help celebrate this fairly insignificant date in television history, the network will pull out all the stops: its planning to air a re-run on Thursday night.
There will be others, though, taking this event a bit more seriously. CNN personality Larry King will help host a bash in Beverly Hills. Fans are planning to attend 90210 showings at various locations including the Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles.

-MTV might not be about music videos anymore, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have two animated guys laugh while watching them. That’s right - Beavis and Butt-Head are coming back.
-Piers Morgan is reportedly very close to taking over Larry King’s CNN job. He’ll be forced to formally audition for the gig on the season finale of America’s Got Talent.
-Soon-to-be father Mario Lopez and his pregnant girlfriend will soon get their own VH1 reality show. This apparently means Lopez will have to stay with the same woman for at least a whole season.
-A&E’s new series The Glades drew in 3.6 million viewers on Sunday evening. That’s the best number for any drama broadcast in that channel’s history.
Larry King Calls it Quits
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Prime Time, Talk Shows, Announcements, News,
Longtime nightly CNN television host Larry King has announced his departure from his 25 year-old show, Larry King Live.
‘I’m ending my nightly show this fall but continuing at CNN,’’ King posted on his Twitter account.
The show, despite its long run, has declined in ratings lately. King plans to step down this fall and says that the network didn’t pressure him to leave. In fact, he planned on leaving during the week that his show hit 25 years, when he interviewed LeBron James, Bill Gates, Lady Gaga, and President Obama.
“With this chapter closing I’m looking forward to the future and what my next chapter will bring, but for now it’s time to hang up my nightly suspenders,” he wrote in a statement on his blog.
Although CNN has said that they wouldn’t necessarily fill the time slot with a similar show, King has said Ryan Seacrest would be the best replacement.

Kate Gosselin Doesn’t Agree with Jon’s Decisions
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Talk Shows, Cable, Gossip, Video,
Kate Gosselin was cool, composed and appropriate during her Larry King Live appearance, compliments which can’t be said of many who’ve matched up against the TV icon. Naturally, King asked about life with Jon, life after Jon and what might be next for Kate, minus Jon.
“His decisions right now are not the ones I would make,” Kate said carefully while discussing her (soon to be ex) husband Jon Gosselin. In the matter of raising their large brood of eight children, Kate admitted, “There’s a lot we agree on.”

“I raised him, just like you would raise your kids,” Joe Jackson defended his parenting skills on CNN, chatting it up during Larry King Live earlier this week. “I didn’t make no mistakes, Larry.”
He also denied media reports that he’s been attempting to turn Michael Jackson’s children into a Jackson 3. “That’s a bunch of jive,” he answered the claims.

Perez Hilton Responds to Miss California Controversy
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Talk Shows, Cable, Gossip, Video,
Gossip blogger and sometime Miss USA judge Perez Hilton, who created a firestorm of controversy around the normally sedate pageant, clarified his position during an appearance on Larry King Live.
Hilton became the most talked-about moment of the contest when he asked Miss California, Carrie Prejean, if she believes all states should ratify gay marriage, as Vermont did recently. Miss Prejean expressed the view that marriage ought to be between a man and a woman.
And as they say, the issue hit the fan. Perez responded with an angry video on his blog, Miss Prejean has been all over the media and almost no one is talking about the fact that Miss North Carolina went on to win the whole show (Miss California of the controversial answer finished as the overall runner-up).

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest recently sat down with CNN guru Larry King to talk about - what else - the final episodes of Idol’s seventh season, and everything that led up to them.
When asked about David Archuleta, Ryan Seacrest answered “David Archuleta is extremely comfortable and poised and powerful when he sings.” Ryan admitted, “He’s a little uncomfortable and fidgety when he’s not singing, but he’s a master with the songs.” Seacrest went on to say “David Cook is very different. He’s a rocker. He’s a nice guy. And he’s been through quite a bit.”

Rosie O’Donnell’s MSNBC Gig Falls Through
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Daytime, Prime Time, Talk Shows, Cable,
That was quick. Just a couple of days ago, I reported that Rosie O’Donnell was in negotiations with MSNBC for a prime time talk show. Now… not so much. And yet again, it’s Rosie’s big mouth that’s to blame. And yet again, it’s Rosie’s haiku blog that breaks the news: “We were close to a deal/ almost done/ i let it slip in miami/ causing panic on the studio end/ Well/ what can u do/ 2day there is no deal/ poof/ my career as a pundit is over/ b4 it began.” At a recent appearance in Miami, O’Donnell spilled the beans by revealing that she would be competing against “the guy with the suspenders and the long, long face” (Larry King). Seems that and her comment at a New York stand-up gig that she was “filming for an unidentified TV station” may have sealed her fate. Then again, Rosie has commented before that she doesn’t really need to work, so I’m sure she’s not too upset about how things turned out. I can just hear Donald Trump’s comments about what a pathetic failure Rosie is. Mark my words, he’ll be showing up on an entertainment news show any day now.
