Nothing says ratings like a long-awaited wedding. Last night’s episode of Brothers & Sisters gave the drama its best ratings of the season. Unfortunately, commitment-phobes - once again - fueled NBC’s football Sunday.
8pm
- Sunday Night Football (18.3 million, 6.8/17 in 18-49) sacked another 1.1 million.
- The Amazing Race finale (12.3 million, 3.7/9) hit a season high in viewers.
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (10.3 million, 3.0/7) remained level.
- FOX’s BCS Selection Show (3.4/9) attracted 8.6 million.
- The Simpsons* (2.6/6) had 5.6 million laughing.

Thursday Ratings: BCS is BEST

College football season ended yesterday with a bang. The BCS game on FOX easily gave the network a double win last night. Meanwhile, Private Practice‘s official Thursday debut did well for ABC. The medical drama even bested that other medical drama on NBC.
8pm
- Approximately 26.8 million watched Florida beat Oklahoma in FOX‘s BCS game.
- CSI: NY* (2.0/5 in 18-49) nailed down 8.5 million.
- Ugly Betty (7.5 million, 2.4/6) was down 900,000 from its last new episode.
- My Name is Earl (5.5 million, 2.0/6) was off by 17%; Kath & Kim (4.2 million, 1.7/4) lost 22%.
- Smallville (0.9/2) turned in 2.3 million.

Thanks to an earlier battle between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys, FOX was easily the winner last night with the demos. Meanwhile, 60 Minutes’ strong showing made CBS Sunday’s most-watched network.

- Sunday Night Football (11.8 million, 4.5/11 in 18-49) was down 1.8 million.
- The 13th finale of The Amazing Race (10.6 million, 3.1/7) was up 7% from last season.
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (10.3 million, 3.3/8) was up a notch.
- FOX‘s BCS Selection Show (3.9/10) drew in 9.6 million.
- The Simpsons (6.2 million, 2.8/7) fell 1.8 million.
- CW‘s airing of The Cutting Edge (1.6, 0.6/1) gave the network its best Sunday numbers all season.

The winter (season?) finale of Desperate Housewives left a big cliffhanger for fans and huge ratings for ABC. The network had another successful night with the viewers and demos.
8pm
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (14.5 million, 4.9/11 in 18-49 demo) was just slightly down from last week.
- Sunday Night Football (4.9/11) averaged 12.6 million for the entire night.
- The Amazing Race (11.2 million, 3.4/8) was down about 1 million from last week.
- The BCS coverage on FOX (4.3/10) drew 10.8 million sports fans.
- Life is Wild (1.25 million, 0.4/1) barely factored in the equation.
9pm
- Approx. 20.6 million (7.7/17 in 18-49 demo) saw a a devastating tornado rip through Desperate Housewives’ Wisteria Lane.
- CBS’ Pictures of Hollis Woods (2.2/5) entertained 11.4 million.
- A new episode of American Dad (5.67 million, 2.8/6) was down several million from last week.
10pm
- About 12.7 million guests watched the long-awaited wedding on Brothers & Sisters (4.8/12 in 18-49 demo).
