A dance-less ABC and repeat-filled CBS helped FOX take easy wins in both the viewers and the demos last night.

Monday Ratings: ABC Suffers Without DWTS
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Drama, Kids, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Heroes, Prison Break, Ratings,
Life post-Dancing with the Stars is always hard for ABC. Despite the Alphabet network’s holiday specials and programming originals, the network was beat by a slate of repeats on CBS.
8pm
- Approximately 11.2 million welcomed back Shrek the Halls* (3.3/9 in 18-49); How the Grinch Stole Christmas (11.7 million, 3.8/9) did slightly better.
- The Big Bang Theory* (2.5/7) and How I Met Your Mother* (2.8/7) both attracted 8 million.
- Chuck (7.3 million, 2.5/6) picked up 700,000 more.
- Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (5.8 million, 2.2/6) was up 26% thanks to the weakened competition.
- Gossip Girl (3.1 million, 1.5/4) added on 200,000.

This Week on TV (12/1-12/7)

(You can view TV Envy’s Master Programming Schedule here.)
MONDAY 12/1)- Shrek the Halls (ABC, 8pm): Hopefully this Mike Myers laugher will help us all forget The Love Guru.
- Inside the Actor’s Studio (Bravo, 8pm): “Daniel Radcliffe, star of the Harry Potter film franchise, charts his career journey.” I’m not sure I want to see James Lipton enthusiastically talking about Radcliffe’s nude Broadway performance.
- Heroes (NBC, 9pm): “Ando, Sam and Frack try to restore Hiro’s memory with a comic book.” Any person trying to follow this series should be given an instruction manual.
- Boston Legal (ABC, 10pm): “When Denny receives bad news about the state of his Alzheimer’s, Alan goes before the Massachusetts Supreme Court to plead for access to an experimental drug that can help his condition.” Alzheimers? Maybe Shatner simply forgot why George Takei dislikes him so.

Tuesday Ratings: NBC is The Biggest Winner
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Daytime, Kids, Prime Time, Reality, Specials, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, House, Ratings,
Despite two original episodes of Cane, NBC’s reality programming helped the network win both the demos and the viewers.
8pm
- A repeat of NCIS* (11.8 million, 2.5/7 in 18-49 demo) was the hour’s best performer.
- Deal or No Deal (3.1/9) came a close second with 11.3 million.
- Shrek the Halls* (3.4/10) rounded up another 10 million for ABC
- Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too! (3.1/9) sweetened the pot with 8.5 million.
- Bones* (6.2 million, 2.0/6) was down 2 million from last week.
9pm
- The Biggest Loser (3.6/9 in 18-49) weighed in with 9.8 million viewers.

- The According to Jim* block (1.9/5) averaged 5.7 million.
- CW showed a repeat of CBS’ Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show* (2.94 million, 1.3/3). The hand-me-down drew 5.5 million less.
10pm

MONDAY (12/10)
- I Want a Dog, Charlie Brown (ABC, 8pm): “Linus and Lucy’s little brother, Rerun, hangs with Snoopy and his own sibling, the desert-dwelling Spike.” Was I the only one not aware of the What’s Happening!/Peanuts crossover episode?
- How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8pm): “Ted asks his doctor on a date and his friends try to discourage him from dating someone he sees regularly.” Relationships clearly work best when you never see them at all.
- Notes from the Underbelly (ABC, 9:30pm): “Lauren tries to convince her sister to move to LA so she can be nearby when the baby is born.” Lauren’s sister isn’t stupid. She knows what ‘be nearby’ means.
- The Hills (MTV, 10pm): Season finale. “Lauren gets an offer to go to Paris.” I really hope MTV doesn’t take their version of quality programming overseas (again). The French hate us already.

ABC’s ratings last night had others green with envy. Although the network was narrowly bested in the viewers, it dominated in the demos.

- A Christmas in Rockefeller Center (2.0/5) dazzled 9 million.
- Kid Nation (2.1/6) pulled in 7.3 million for CBS.
- A full hour of ‘Til Death (2.3/6) averaged 6 million.
- About 5.03 million saw Heather kicked off on America’s Next Top Model (2.4/7).
9pm
- Criminal Minds (16.3 million, 4.5/11) rose 440,000 thou to win the hour.
- Pushing Daisies (10.2 million, 3.8/9) had animated lead-ins to thank for its 2.6 million boost.
- Kitchen Nightmares (3.3/8) reached an impressive 7 million.
- Bionic Woman (6 million, 2.2/5) plummeted 300,000.
- Gossip Girl (1.4/3) rounded off the hour with 3 million.
10pm
- Although down 330,000, CSI: NY (4.1/11 in 18-49 demo) was still the hour’s top draw.
- Dirty Sexy Money (7.1 million, 2.6/7) saw a 630,000 increase.
- Life (2.2/6) felt lifeless at 6.3 million.

MONDAY (11/26)
- Dancing With the Stars (ABC, 8pm): The final three competitors dance tonight. ABC’s domination of Monday nights officially ends today.
- How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8pm): ‘Barney loses his mojo just as he gets an invite to a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show party.’ I’m willing to overlook another Heidi Klum sighting just to see Neil Patrick Harris squirm.
- Samantha Who? (ABC, 9pm): NOTE NEW START TIME.
- Notes from the Underbelly (ABC, 9:30): Season premiere. So how exactly does this show work? Does someone always have to be pregnant?
- October Road (ABC, 10pm): After it’s Thanksgiving debut, the show now slides into its regular time slot (where I predict it will soon slide right out of).

Shrek the Halls With a Big Green Ogre
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Animation, Kids, Prime Time, ABC,
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la! Not only will Shrek the Third be coming to DVD soon (November 13), but ABC will be airing a Christmas special with the loveable green guy and his band of kooky friends. I don’t know how well it will hold up to classic fan favorites like How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman or A Charlie Brown Christmas, but I’m all for a new Christmas special that isn’t another sequel to Frosty. Shrek the Halls will air on November 28th at 8:00 p.m. and will no doubt thrill kids with the animation and voice talents of Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas. The ogre’s humbug ways are challenged by his family and friends (even the Gingerbread Man of “Not my gumdrop buttons!” infamy is on hand) and you can bet the gang will make the holidays truly special. Because that’s how all Christmas specials end, right? Now I’d like to see Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas return to television—you can keep your Frosty Returns and Frosty’s Winter Wonderland—bring on the jug band!
